nick_889
cant seem to get some stuff right on my 10.4.6 osx. first of all my audio seems to be strange, i mean its not that there's no sound but everything just seems to play 2X faster like when i play an MP3 song, it plays really fast on both itunes and VLC player, so i know its not the player's fault. according to windows, using run thn Direct diagnostic tools, my sound does show up as an AC97? argh i'll just post a screen shot: Does anybody know how to fix this? Funny thing is that my first OSx 10.4.1 installation on my Dell 4300s, sound was working out of the box, but not on this 10.4.6 installation. second is that i have a powercolor R9250 low profile graphics card and its running on a fixed 1024x768 and refreshes at 60Hz. is there anyway i can up my refresh rate? its ok working at a low resoultion but im using a CRT monitor an my eyes are not literally bleeding. i did do a research and there was a thread talking about flashing the card's bios but i dont really wanna void the warrenty, unless there is no other option. then there are other treads that talk about inserting your radeon's device ID in to the ATISomethingSomething8700.kext ? but they dont explian how to do it.. =/ lastly, i have a Pentium 4 1.7Ghz proccesor having only SSE2 capp. how do i tell if the SSE3 patch is working? or how do i tell if the SSE3 patch has EVEN been patched? help would REALLY be appreciated, thanks in advance. gwprod12
Audio's pretty complicated, so I'll let the next person field it. the 9250 uses ATIRadeon8500.kext. You'll want to put your device and vender id's under IOPCIMatch in the info.plist file inside the kext. You can probably get your device and vender id from the system profiler under video card. This is no guarantee that it will work, but it's worth a try. Also... If your CPU is only capable of SSE2, you have to have the Anti-SSE3 patch, or otherwise the kernel wont boot correctly.
