Vibrational Mode
I've been running a 10.6.1 system for a while now on some assorted hardware (and will post a hardware list if necessary, but otherwise I won't clog up this thread), with little issue. Lately, when I start up the machine in verbose mode, I see the following two errors show up on each boot. They've not been there in the past, and I'm unsure of what they mean. To be clear, the system seems to start and run fine so far. I don't know what these errors mean, or even if they're anything to worry about. Can anyone please provide some insight? Google only brings back one hit for the error, and it seems unrelated. Much appreciated for any info! Thanks. Beerkex'd
The error messages are related to HFS+ (the Mac OS file system) file compression. Probably some compressed files have become corrupt. Some info here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?sto...090902223042255 Try booting in single user mode (boot with the -s flag) and follow the instructions on screen about running fsck. When running fsck (you will know what I'm talking about when you boot with -s) if you see "File System Was Modified", run the fsck command again. Then type exit to boot normally into OS X. N!tr@m
After running fsck it says "volume appers to be OK". But the error message appears when booting. Any ideas? Beerkex'd
Find the corrupted files, decompress them and compress them again... or delete them. Don't know how though. A reformat and reinstall is also an option..
