shockaaa
Hi everyone New to the whole installing osx on a pc. I just don't know where the start. Been reading a lot of forums trying to figure out a start to everything. New to the osx86 terminology as well. At first I was thinking to get a dell mini 10v just for osx but then...the laptop I have has better specs so I want to try it on my dell xps m1210. Specs: Core 2 Duo T7200 2ghz 2GB RAM Nvidia GO 7400 w/ Turbo Cache 120GB ...but I have another 80GB just for osx Got a few questions before I go ahead with the installation Has anyone attempted to install osx 10.6 SL on a m1210? Do I need to install 10.5 Leopard first ..to install SL? Will it mess up any configurations in BIOS ..or basically screw up anything in my laptop? I've seen in some forums ...even though I have core 2 duo...I will only be using one CPU? is this true? where do I download osx86? Basically I just want to install osx on a fresh 80GB HD without having to compramise by installing it in partions in my 120GB HD...I want to know swapping HDs in and out wont cause any problems for either windows or osx... If you guys can help me out that would be great! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194779-installing-osx-106-sl-on-a-dell-xps-m1210/ Share on other sites
Davirus
You just wasted your time here. No one will help you about it since mostly "wise" users believe they are hacker gods or something, or they will tell you something stupid like "google it" even when they know YOU ALREADY googled it. My suggestion, never try to ask something here. If the problem is too EASY, they will tell you "read through forums, there is the answer" If the problem is too HARD, they will tell you "we are doing this for free, we have a "life" outside this forum, read through the forum, there is the answer" If makes you feel better, I tried to install SL on my XPS M1210 some months ago with a lot of failure. I would make it run perfectly if just the bunch of jackass who "runs" this site would said something useful. Yes, the processor only run using the CPU=1 kernel flag I had problems with the GMA950 driver Sound works using the voodoo HDA thing Wireless do not work. I did not test double boot. PS2 drivers works. I gave my self because the Processor and video driver are fundamental to my work environment, so I still using 10.5.8. - David Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194779-installing-osx-106-sl-on-a-dell-xps-m1210/#findComment-1482174 Share on other sites
WithoutTheMac
Hello there .. I've an XPS m1210 running 10.5.8 smoothly with an intel 945 graphics card for several months now using the iDeneb lite distro. I've made several attempts to get Snow Leopard up and running but to no avail. I spent the last week trying the iAtkos S3 version2 from UPCHUCK and at one point I had it installed and working but made the fatal mistake of going for a software update only to find I could not load it up again and then could not repeat the install. It's that kinda game. H Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194779-installing-osx-106-sl-on-a-dell-xps-m1210/#findComment-1503827 Share on other sites

The only thing that stop me from update to snow leopard, is the fact that I cant make my internal laptop screen to function. Snow Leopard performance, compatibility is impressive on a XPS M1210, but you have to plug an external screen to see a thing, the internal screen still turned off no matter what I do. Not sure if you still interested on it. Still, Im planning to share my progress on this as soon as possible.
