sniperviper
Hi folks, My OS X86 (GoatSecX - 10.4.6) is running perfect on my Medion MD808XL. The MD8083XL has X10 wireless interface (and remote hardware). Is there any solution to enable FRONTROW on my "Hackintosh"? Have tried Apple's installer but installation quits due to missing IR hardware check. Please HELP.... thnx sniper Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19424-frontrow-on-1046/ Share on other sites
Plecky
FrontRow needs an IR reciever to install, this check can be circumvented using either FrontRow Enabler (google for it) or by installing using Pacifist (my personal choice). After installation it can only be launched if Apples IR Remote control is installed. Basically this checks all input devices for the HIDRemoteControl key. See the thread [HowTo] Native FrontRow without any illegal hacks? It is easy for mor info and a possible solution. Plecky
For installation you need to use either Pacifist or the enabler (both is not recommended, but shouldn't corrupt anything) For running FR you can use the Enabler, but for many people (including me and apprently you as well) this will brake mouse&keyboard, sound and security prefs. The enabler patches the BezelFramework and apparently under some versions it doesn't do this correctly. If you just use the FrontRowPass.kext with correct ids it should work without the enabler. You can check if it is actually loaded in the Extensions section of System Profiler. To fix the broken prefs, see the enabler page (reinstalling BezelFrameworks from PrivateFrameworks and LoginItems(?) from install cd. The intel 10.4.6 updater does not contain these files, contrary to what the enabler page says (that one uses PPC as an example) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19424-frontrow-on-1046/#findComment-127498 Share on other sites

hnic
Hello all Just wondering is FR confirmed to work under the 10.4.6? are there things your system must have before trying to install FR? And if so can some one write down some real step by steps on doing this. I get real boring when i have to reinstall my OS.
