Hi Guys,

I've been trying for a while now to get Leopard working on my PC. First off I'll give you a run-down of my PC, it's custom build but nothing out of the ordinary really.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 630

Graphics Card: ATi Radeon X1550 512MB (PCI Express)

Hard Drive: 300GB SATA Seagate

RAM: 3 lots of 1GB ADATA

On my Hard Drive I have 3 partitions:

Partition 1: 236GB NTFS with Windows Vista

Partition 2: 32GB Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) currently with nothing installed

Partition 3: 32GB FAT-32 with Mandriva Linux

I am using the GRUB bootloader to choose where to boot from at startup.

I have tried installing iATKOS v7, iDeneb v1.3, and Kalyway 10.5.2 onto Partition 2 with varying results but none of them went all the way.

  • iATKOS kept crashing throughout the installation (kernel panic error message).
  • iDeneb installed fine but when I tried to boot from the Darwin it installed to the volume my PC just restarted every time.
  • Kalyway went even further. It installed fine, restarted, I booted from the volume and got Darwin. When I ran that it went to the grey apple logo with a black box saying "You Must Restart You Computer" and it still did this even after rebooting several times. I tried then booting it with "-v -f -x" and it went through the text and then just went to a black screen. I assume that means my video card isn't supported?

I think it's probably just something wrong with the way I'm installing / booting it so if anybody could help I would very much appreciate it. I don't mind installing with Kalyway, iDeneb, or whatever you think will work, I just want Mac running somehow :P

Thanks, and if you need more info let me know.

UPDATE 1:

I tried iDeneb again and after it installed I booted in safe mode (-v -f -x) and it went through all the text and got to the black screen like kalyway did. I then booted it again in normal mode (just -v) and it went through the text and to to the welcome video, except my screen just said "No Signal" but my speakers were playing the sound. After that it went to the set up and I was using voice over commands for a bit but it wouldn't let me skip registration (I thought you could do that?)

It must be the wrong video drivers for my card (ATi Radeon X 1550), does anyone know how I can get them and add them to iDeneb?

P.S. I have tried installing it again several times with different ATi drivers and none of them seem to give me the screen, I must be able to download the correct ones from somewhere, right?

UPDATE 2:

I've got it working now by not installing any of the Video Card drivers at installation. Leopard then uses a generic driver that works for me. The only problem is that I can't choose my monitors native resolution 1440x900 so the display is a bit fuzzy.
