jamesj_
Hi all! I'm noob and I want to try Mac OS on my notebook. I've been reading about this many hours in the last 3 days. I've already got answer to most of my questions (like ''Can I dual boot Mac OS & Windows 7''), but I'm not sure if my hardware is good for hackintosh. In OSx86 Database there are many notebooks like mine (Acer Aspire) which runs greatly OS X, but mine (7738G) isn't listed. So are there any chanses to get OS X (Snow Leopard, if possible) running propperly and how to choose which hackintosh to use? My hardware is: Intel Centrino Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.20GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) Intel PM45 Express 4GB DDR3 1066MHz @ 800MHz 500GB, 5400rpm SATA 17.3" WXGA+ HD Acer CrystalBrite NLED LCD, 1600x900 пиксела NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M 1GB DDR3 @ 550MHz GPU, 1580MHz VRAM, 1210MHz Shader Intel Wireless-N Wi-Fi link 5300 (802.11b/g/Draft-N WiFi) I don't really care if LAN and Wireless works, I'd be happy if the sound works, but it's not big deal after all... I'm mostly worried about the CPU and the NVIDIA. (There aren't drivers for 240M for Windows yet, I'm using modified 260M's) Thanks to all in advance ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192762-can-i-get-some-help-with-installing-os-x-please/ Share on other sites
jamesj_
up Hey, I'm just asking if these components are okay... Like is there 50+% chance to get normally working OS X with them? I would appreciate any information if they are 100% working or 100% not working. I'm hoping I can get some help here, because OSx86 database section despaired me a bit. My hardware isn't listed there... Thank you in advance again Looking forward to some replies James Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192762-can-i-get-some-help-with-installing-os-x-please/#findComment-1302906 Share on other sites

geiman
yeah searching is probably your best bet; not just your laptop (although you might find someone with the same one) but searching the actual components you listed above (ie.. chipset, gpu, etc...) I'd say your chances are better than most since you have an intel chipset and nvidia gpu, but other than that I'd say your best way is to just either A. Search until you can make a good decision or B. Just try it and see what ends up working. Personally, I'd go ahead and try installing, then search to fix what won't work. If you have a lot of trouble, grab one of the pre-made distros and try getting one of those to run; then you can make your own retail system by applying those patches from the disc manually. If you truly want to get into this, you are going to need to learn a great deal of new information; but trust me, its worth it. Keep us posted on your progress...
