subbz2k
Hey Folks, i have some big problems with the iDeneb Version mentioned in the Topic Title: I cannot install it - it doesnt find the Virtual Hard Drive. I already followed the instructions under this link: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t176857.html But after editing and inserting those lines i get an exception error then trying to load the vm. Vmware still loads it anyway but again: no hard drive just an ethernet kind of thing. I use vmware workstation 6.5.2 build 156735. My System is as follows: C2Q Q9550 @ 3,2 GHz Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 8 GB Corsair XMS2 XFX 8800 GTX Can you help me with this? In the past i installed 10.4 Tiger OSx86 and all worked fine. But now i need this very version because i want to test Logic Studio 9 with this - nothing else is of interest for me with that OS btw. But i need it and i dont want to install it natively. Many thanks in advance!! subb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192381-ideneb-151-inside-vmware-kernel-error/ Share on other sites
subbz2k
hey guys, does really nobody have any idea about this? i never had such failure before and im stuck with this. i use windows vista x64 just in case this has something to do with this but i guess it doesnt. also if i try to "F2" inside the boot of vmware i cannot enter it's bios. just in case that is of interest. otherwise: do u have a recommendation regarding a stable 10.5.7 OSX release? i read much about kalyway in here but i havent found a 10.5.7 from this so far. any help would be appreciated!! thx in advance subb btw: i also saw that i cannot install it natively even if i would like to do so: i dont have a double-layer medium left and i also have no partition that i can backup and cleanup completely for this to work. so yeah: i need the vm solution :-/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192381-ideneb-151-inside-vmware-kernel-error/#findComment-1301228 Share on other sites
subbz2k
hey again, i think you need some more information. so i hope, the following will help you in investigating the problem i have. as an attachement i uploaded a screenshot from the screen that i get then trying to boot the ideneb release for installation. as you can see there is some ethernet thing and i can hit enter as often as i want it doesnt do anything it just stays stuck to that screen. after reading the log file i found a lot of information. too much for me to understand tbh but there are some entries on the end of the file that may be from interest. here's the part i mean: Oct 17 08:04:47.864: vcpu-0| VIDE: Curr CHS info cyls: 17475 heads: 15 sects: 63 lba_cap: 62914560Oct 17 08:04:48.083: vcpu-1| CPU reset: soft Oct 17 08:04:48.114: vcpu-0| BIOS-UUID is 56 4d de bb 7b 31 61 17-8a e0 04 35 5b 40 bb d6 Oct 17 08:04:52.919: vcpu-0| FLOPPYLIB-LIB : Win32Ioctl: syserror Unknown error 21 (0x15). Oct 17 08:05:01.604: mks| SVGA: display status changed, using optimizations for local consoles. as you can see there is an incrementing error but i dunno what this means. do you have any idea now what im running into here? as said before: im stuck and i would really like to continue this journey since i need at least a 10.5.7 version of osx to finally test that logic studio 9. i hope you can help me better now. many thanks in advance again! subb UPDATE: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok, im proceeding a little bit. after deactivating the floppy from the configuration i can start the installation procedure. but as soon as it leaves the darwin screen and the apple screen starts i receive the following error from vmware itself: *** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) ***The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down. what the hell is wrong here? it gets more and more crazy ^^ UPDATE 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- after completely recreating the virtual machine i still receive that same error from VMware. So what do you think? Is the Image just crashed up? Or is it anything else? Here are my defaults i have used for the machine's config: OS-Type: Other -> Other Processor: 2 RAM: 4096 (already reduced it to 2048 - no effect!) Disk: 30 GB (Persistent) everything else: Auto please guys - there must be someone who can help me! subbz2k
OK, im going crazy now. I finally managed to install an older iDeneb (version 1.4) and everything went fine. I choosed FreeBSD as the os type before to get this done. But now - after install was finished correctly i receive the following annoying error from vmware again: *** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) ***The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down. on the osx86 wiki i found a comment that says you have to change the os type to winnt in that case. i did it of course and of course it DID NOT WORK! can you really not help me with all this? i cannot imagine that NO ONE had such errors before. and i guess that a lot of people installed it inside vmware since this of course makes the most sense if you want both os. so please help me out there. im really in need as you can see! subbz2k
ok i will give up now. since nobody seems to be able to help me and since i dont find anything of use then google'ing around i guess that i'm the only person who's confronted with this kind of error. it still sounds quite unbelievable to me but if its the case it may be. i will forget the test and will stick to the programs that are available under windows again. if anyone may have any idea in the future, please let me know. but its too frustrating to continue if no one can at least lead one a way in the right direction so the effort doesnt make any sense to me anymore. cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192381-ideneb-151-inside-vmware-kernel-error/#findComment-1301898 Share on other sites
alex-pex
You have to set Os Type to "Darwin" instead of "other". Try this conf (it cannot be set to darwin via the GUI, but with the notepad you can edit it) iPC.rar Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192381-ideneb-151-inside-vmware-kernel-error/#findComment-1301955 Share on other sites
subbz2k
Hi Alex, thank you for your help with this finally :-) I manually set the os type to darwin in an ideneb version before since i read that on some forums. it brought me to an exception error in the vmware as i did it but i need to say, that i changed this after i managed to install ideneb. i tried your config now and it boots in without that kernel error but i receive another one and i guess this is a more common one since i think i already read something about this somewhere: The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. You will need to power off or reset the virtual machine at this point. and then i let go i have the screen as attached in this thread. i also wonder: isnt the vanilla kernel the one that should be better for intel cpu's? or am i wrong? anyway: i would appreciate your help again in this. in the meantime i'll try to find the post again there i first saw this kind of error before. but thx so far. at least i'm proceeding beyond that kernel error now ... subbz2k
ok i managed to install it with the following flag: busratio=8 this seems to be needed as it doesnt correctly determines my fsb ratio. after installation i still need to enter this and i also need to add: rd=disk0s2 otherwise it wont boot. so i need to enter the following now to start osx: busratio=8 rd=disk0s2 this helps at first. but i run into the next problems, this time about the driver. i need my graphic card to run under osx. its an 8800 gtx. i read about a software called efistudio and i made an image where this software is contained in (since i cannot use usb-sticks inside that installation - dunno why, but wayne). but then i open the cd it shows a X inside that icon of the program and then i double click it it tells me, that it cannot start efistudio as it is not supported under this architecture ^^ so what is this now? how can i get my graphic card installed or how can i at least get a higher resolution? 1024x768 is way too small. also i would need a how to on how to install sound in there. please help me with this again! ps: you can write in german also, i am german. if this is needed somehow. thx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192381-ideneb-151-inside-vmware-kernel-error/#findComment-1302432 Share on other sites
