Will my current iDeneb setup work with a vanilla SL install?

Under my current specs and BIOS, I have iDeneb 10.5.8 installed perfectly on my Dell XPS 420. I would dearly like to use Lifehacker's guide for installing Snow Leopard (http://bit.ly/6sdVx). So here's my question: If I have my system working fine under Leopard, will an upgrade to Snow Leopard work just as well? My specs are very similar to Adam Posh's in the guide, including the exact same Graphics Card. Should my install go just as smoothly as his?

 

Also, this will be a vanilla install, so will I be able to use System Update to update to 10.6.1? Adam did in his build, so should mine be the same?

EDIT: as a side thought, would it be possible to upgrade my Leopard directly from the Snow Leopard DVD?
