SpaceyMage
First and foremost, are there ANY (decent-looking) PC ATX cases out there with a FireWire 800 port?! It does not appear as though there are so I'm just going to get my hands dirty and mod a Mac Pro case. Now, I bet you're thinking, 'why not just simply mod a PC case to have a FireWire 800 port with a PCIe card?' Well, that's not as fun, those PC cases are childish-looking and fugly, and I could save some money on a PCIe card and some space obviously. Now, let me tell you all the parts: Motherboard - Asus X8NA-D6 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131389 Processor - Intel Xeon E5520 (x2) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...5&Tpk=e5520 Graphics Card - Nvidia Geforce GTX 360 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of...orce_300_Series Sound Card - Asus MIO-Audio 888 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...;Tpk=asus%20mio Optical Drive - LG WHO8LS20K - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827136175 RAM - Super Talent W1333EX6G (x3) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820609464 Solid-State Drive - Kingston V-Series SNV125-S2BD - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BH3UCA Hard-Disk Drive - Fujitsu MBA3300RC - http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=...tingid=46807434 Power Supply - Ultra X3 ULT40311 - http://cgi.ebay.com/Ultra-X3-ULT40311-1000...2QQcmdZViewItem Enclosure - Mac Pro Case 922-8890 - http://www.applepalace.com/apple-mac/apple...re-922-8890.asp So, that's it. Tell me what you think and what I'll have to do. Will the mobo fit? Well, it won't, but can I make it? And how? How will/should I cool the thing. I plan to overclock... any precautions I should take? cbreaker
As far as I can tell, that board does not have a FireWire 800 port, so you'll need a FireWire 800 card in any event. I don't particularly feel as though the Mac Pro case is anything special, and you can get a nice looking non-Mac case anywhere. Also, you might want to make sure the MIO works on that board - one of the people on NewEgg posted saying the MIO didn't work or wasn't available or something. SpaceyMage
Yeah, I'd heard that about MIO. And what do you mean about needing a FW 800 either way?
