drumtraks Posted October 10, 2009 Share Posted October 10, 2009 Hello all, this is my first post and first of all I'd like to say that I'm a complete newbie to the hackintosh thing although being experienced in building PC systems and a genuine Apple machine owner. I'm in the process of buying a new system for Audio Editing and Recording (professional using) and so I would like to have an expert opinion on the matter. The config is as follows: BOARD Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 CPU Intel i7 920 2.66GHz D0 Stepping RAM OCZ 6GB 1600MHz (3x2GB PCR3-12800) CL7 Reaper HPC GPU BFG Tech GeForce GTX 260 OC Maxcore 55 896MB SSD Intel X25-M 80GB Gen2 (SSDSA2MH080G2C1) HDD #1 Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB (WD3000HLFS) HDD #2 Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB (WD3000HLFS) HDD #3 Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB OPTICAL DRIVE Sony Optiarc AD-7240S 24x DVD-RW Said that, the questions: Is there, currently, a stable way to run Mac OS X Snow Leopard in this configuration? (I'd prefer a native Mac DVD installation.) I need this system to perform as stable as it was a genuine Mac (being LAN, USB and FireWire the most important). I'm looking to run Snow Leopard on Intel's SSD and Windows 7 on the Samsung's drive. The Western Digital drives will be used only for audio library storage and configured in RAID 0 through Disk Utility (will need them usable in both operating systems). Can I have this installed this way, working properly? I'm also in the need of a dual monitor setup. Will it be a problem? Finally, when powering on the computer I'd like to have a GUI asking for what system to boot. I've read the install guide for this motherboard but as I am not familiar with terms like KEXT, DSDT and so on I'm afraid to be missing something and I don't want to spend this much money to end having it useless. I'm certain questions like these have been asked over and over but... well I'd just be grateful to someone who could address my questions and keep my peace of mind. PS: Please don't tell me to buy a Mac Pro as there is no budget right now Thanks in advance to anyone who could help!
