flooce
Hi! I've installed OS X86 10.4.6 on my PC system. The installation process did work normaly, but when installation was finished, I coulnd't boot the system. My PC is running the following Hardware: CPU: AMD 64 3000MHZ (the old socket, I think 754 or something like that) Mainboard: MSI K8M Neo-V HDD: Samsung 80GB IDE When I try to boot from the harddisk the gray apple appears in the middle of the screen and after a while a certain sign shows up... doesn't look that good to me Is there anything I could do or is my system not compatible with Mac OS X86? I hope you kindly tell me a way to Install OS X on my PC. Thanks yor Help! P.S.: I've allready searched the wiki and the compatible/incompatible hardware list, but since I am not familiar with technical english and technical stuff at all, I was not very succesfull. Please forgive me, if you are thinkig right now that the soloution should be obvious. Tell me anyway or please post a link. Thanks and greetings from Vienna. P.P.S.: I know that my desciption is rather unspecific. If you miss some information about my system or the installation process please ask and I will try to find out. Thanks. flooce
Ok my System ist the following: My CPU only has SSE2. and when I press F8 and boot with -v then the message appears: still waiting for root device. Could it be, that i have to patch sse3? Rammjet
Try making sure your hard drive and cd are on the same controller. Set hard drive to master and set cd to slave. Don't use cable select. gee
Did you select the SSE2 patch in the installer? (There's a customise button at the bottom of one of the screens). You also need the decrypted files package, found in the same place. Thangsang
I m not very sure but i came across this once in this forum somewhere. Yeah you need to disable one usb for sse3 or something like that in the customize section atleast for AMD users. This certain dialog occured: Well, thanks for hlep and all, but this just wont work. Sorry for stealing your time, i'll go back to my creapy windowsXP und the experience of the great macintosh world will be bound to my iBook. Greetings from Vienna, Austria, Europe. Thangsang
It's simply a kernal panic.. find some patches and you too can enjoy the mac experience .... the best is the latest "Mac OSx 10.4.6 GoatsecxDVD.iso" it has almost no bugs and runs with every hardware possible without any hitch... try this one though.. rpb
I had this issue too. I searched for the "cffc" in the kernel panic and found a thread that solved it. You will have to boot up to the install disk and copy the mach_kernel from the DVD to the root of the disk you are installing on. atrain
Hmm... I got this once... I had usb + wifi support enabled from the installer... reinstalled without those 2, worked fine, maybe I'll reinstall to see if i can get wifi running + see which one caused the issue. Not sure what CD i was using, but it was 10.4.4 patched to 10.4.6, with tons of drivers and stuff... (networking, sound, etc patched, had amd + sse3 options in installer) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18898-cant-boot-osx-after-osx86-installation/#findComment-124995 Share on other sites
JoeyDVDZ
Are you using the hotISO image? If so, there's an excellent install guide, at http://www.nedprod.com/Niall_stuff/MacOS%20X/index.html that details a step after the install. You need to reboot to the dvd again, and open a terminal session. Once in there, you have to replace the kernel, which for some reason doesn't install even if you choose the intel/amd patches. If you follow this guide exactly, you should have no troubles. Good luck!
