OSX86 on HP mini 2140

ok for the overview .... i installed osx86 1.3 10.5.5 on my hp mini 2140 and it works perfectly with some issues ill tell u in a bit ..... the main problems i faced were that my mini doesnt have a dvd writer and i cudnt just burn the .iso it on a dvd....plus burning iso on a usb stick is hell lot of a difficult task...but ill show u how to do it....i give no credit to any of the guides as they all are outdated and rubbish...if u follow my guide youll end up having OSX86 with everything working except internal mic(external does work)...

 

WORKING STUFF:

wifi works

ethernet works

webcam works

sleep works

processor fan works

audio works

keyboard works

trackpad with two finger scrolling works

NON-WORKING STUFF

the internal mic is the only issue...( fixed now with voodooHDA.kext and pref.)

 

STUFF NEEDED:

things youll need for this process are all essential:

1.USB stick at least 8 gb

2.usb mouse and keyboard

3.external monitor

4.another usb stick atleast 2gb( for copying the essential kexts and things after installation)

5.iso image of ideneb 1.3(only 1.3 not 1.4) 10.5.5... download from www.thepirayebay.org

 

THE PROCESS:

1. download the ideneb 1.3 10.5.5 (not 1.4 or 10.5.6) from thepiratebay.org

2.when the download completes download the file "ddmac"...google it....if u cant find it tell me ill upload it

3. now insert the usb stick (8gb) and go to my computer icon and right click it....youll see an option called "manage" , click it...a new window will open....now on ur left pane youll see "disk managment" , click it... youll see your hard drive and usb stick on ur right pane..."right click" on ur external drive(usb stick) and click delete(if the option is there and right click again and format)or click format...when the format completes..close the window

now open "ddmac" (the file i told u to download)...now the problem with "ddmac" people face is that they see unreadable characters and they close it...dont close it ill tell u wat to do with it...

ok after opening ddmac, in the topmost field select ur .iso file(click browse or that chinese or ???thing, and den locate ur ideneb.iso and select it...)

ok next thing is to uncheck the box next to ur drive field and boot.ini tboot checkbox..den select ur usb drive (D: e:) or watever it is in ur computer...below that field ull see "boot.ini ?tboot?" ,the field in front of it you shud select ur harddrive(the one in which xp is installed) ok den check the boxes u unchecked before and click start(it is the button next to usb drive selection field and wait for it to complete and wen the process is going please dont click anything i mean anything just dont touch it or the program will crash..wen the process completes close the window..we will now move to the next step...dont uncheck something else(tell me if u dont understand it, ill show it in detail)

4.ok uve got ur bootable usb stick ready....the next process will delete all ur data on ur harddrive , say good bye to xp and i assure u , ull love ur osx86....

5.restart ur laptop...start pressing f9 as the laptop starts....select ur usb in the selection and youll go to the installation screen of osx86 (if it gives u an error wen u select ur usb, saying that it cant be read or {censored} like that ,dont worry just restart it again and dont press f9 this time, ull get a selection screen and gives u a choise to select xp or mac...select mac and youll get to ur installation screen...)

 

NOTE: connect ur external monitor , keyboard and mouse as the trackpad and key board will stop working once installation begins or ends...connect ur monitor and if u cant c properply in ur lcd.. press Fn+f2 to switch to external monitor

INSTALATION PROCESS

1. The installer will now begin. Wait at the apple logo until a language selection screen is shown. Select your language and hit next.

2. Go to the top of the screen where it says utilities. From this menu select Disk Utility

3. Click on the minis Hard drive in the left pane.

4. Click on the erase tab

5. Under Volume format, select Mac OS Extended

6. Click Erase(NOTE: If you plan on ever dual booting or wanting partitions on your drive, now is the time to do it. You wont be able to partition/resize your drive after the install. If you would like to dual boot, go to thepartitiontab on you HD, and click the + button. Add a partition any size you like and assign it as "Free Space". You can format it later)7. After erasing is complete, exit the disk utility

8. Now click next and select your newly erased hard drive as the destination.

9.On the next screen you will see an option at the bottom that says customize. Click on it and apply the following patches:

a. Expand fixes and select: acpi, cpu, and remove firewire

b. Under patches expand chipset and select ichx fix

You can now continue with the installation. Feel free to add any applications that are included with the installer but they are not necessary.

 

After sitting at the install screen for a while your computer will reboot. There will be a countdown from 5 in which the migration assistant should appear. If youre lucky, you can go through the assistant without a hiccup. Most likely it will start looping and not let you get anywhere. To fix this, hold down the power switch and reboot. When the countdown starts press enter immediately.

 

Loop fix method:

For the loop fix you will enter a series of commands. If there is a (space) in the text it is suppose to be there, so look/type carefully.

1. Type "-s" and hit enter

2. Wait for the text skim by until it stops. Then type "/sbin/fsck -fy/" and press enter

3. Once it says "File System was modified" type "/sbin/mount -uw /" with spaces

4. Next type in "passwd root"

5. Now type in whatever password you like, twice, pressing enter after each time.

6. The type touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone being sure not to forget the . or Caps

7. Now type reboot and hit enter

 

OSX

Once the loop issue is resolved you will be prompted asking for a user name and password after the apple boot logo. User Name is root and password is whatever you set it to. Now that you are in OS X:

1. Click System preferences in your dock. Its gray and looks like gears in a square box.

2. Click Accounts

3. To the far left there is a + sign. Click it.

4. In the username box type whatever you like. DO NOT SET A PASSWORD.

5. Under new account it should say Standard, but change it to Administrator.

6. Click create account. It will prompt you asking if its OK to not have a password. Click OK.

7. Under the list of accounts to the left, click login options

8. Under automatic login select the new account you made.

9. Reboot

 

You should now be in OSX again, but this time youre under ur account instead of root. Now open up UInstaller.

1. Select your Hard Drive under Drives

2. Choose OSx86_Essentials as the package to install

3. Click apply kext package

4. Click Install PC_EFI v9 Chameleon Edition 1.0.12

5. Hit Install

YOUVE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED MAC OSX

some things to remeber ...please dont apply any kexts you find on the internet , ill post the stuff ive mentioned as soon as possible....and remeber not to install Displayconfigx.dmg or else ull get to a blue screen on reboot and ull stuck forever...so please dont try that...if u have already done it den i know how to fix the blue screen but its a really pain in the ass so ill recomend not to try it...any questions den post it here or feel free to add me on ask4umair@hotmail.com...if im online ill help u out ... and i dont recomend updating as everything works on this version and u may get issues on updating ur softwares...if u still want to update den dere r many guides on the internet , google it
