Hello :(

First of all i need to say a

Big Thnx to TheHawk

that yesterday on IRC provided me with some precious help and support.

as the topic says i'm near to successgully install Snow Leopard on my MSI P35 Platinum without flashing the BIOS.

now i can finally boot into the installer and start the installation, the problem is that the destination disk i was trying to install it is probably failing (it was a spare disk i had around) and the installation fails, but no KP, no stuck, just an error while decompressing a file.

now i'm gonna try soon on another HD and let you know my progress.

I'll post a step by step tour of my experience whenever i'll have a fully working installation.

till then, for those who are interested i'm attaching the DSDT.aml file that i was able to compile with the help of thehawk.

this file is compiled from a sdl file generated from my current BIOS wich is version 1.9 (available on the MSI official website)

DSDT.zip

and here comes the first problems :)

i managed to install snow leopard, at least the setup completed successfully and i can boot into the installed OS.

it's pure vanilla and it's pretty good for it to work even with some issues.

first of all: i'm still booting using the chameleon on the install disk, i tried to install chameleon on the hd where SL is installed but bad luck, even if i followed the procedures in the readme file the bootloader goes in an instant reboot for the system.

not a big problem since i can still boot into the OS using the installation disk.

but also i would like to know if i can make my vga (8800GTS 320MB) to run without installing third party kexts, i've read something about EFI strings but honestly i couldn't find a tutorial explaining step by step how does it work and how to implement it.

and then the audio :( also the audio doesn't work, i tried to install the voodooHDA.kext but no luck after rebooting the system it still says "no audio device found" in the hardware panel.

I hope that someone can clarify me on these steps.

thnx in advice :)

Since you requested i'm still working on it so i just post a quick start so that maybe you can boot.

1- Download and flash your motherboard with the 1.9 official BIOS From the MSI Website.

2- Follow this guide to prepare an HD with the OSX Installer from wich you'll install Snow Leopard: http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build...start-to-finish

3- Once the disk is ready, download the DSDT File attached in the first post and replace the one shown in the tutorial with this one in /Extra

4- Configure your BIOS:

Integrated Periferals > On Board ATA Controller > Set to AHCI

Advanced BIOS Features > Chipset Features > Enable HPET

Integrated Periferals > Disable COM Port (you can leave the Additional ATA controller enabled but IDE devices won't be recognized

5- Boot from the HD You prepared before.

6- Install

atomikramp,

Have you solved your problem with the audio? I had no problems with getting sound working. I downloaded VoodooHDA kext from: http://www.kexts.com/cat/6-audio.html then put it into /System/Library/Extensions. After executing in terminal: `kextload VoodooHDA.kext` I was able to use audio.

To use your video card without any kexts (btw what kext do you use?) install EFIStudio, add devices and write generated xml into com.apple.Boot.plist.

Sorry if this seems obvious to you I'm still a newbie.

EDIT: I want to clarify a bit: BIOS on my MB is a version with corrected DSDT made by Kabyl ( http://osrom.net/biosmod/ ).
