I am having problems with my SATA DVD drive. It is VERY slow. Won't play CD's and I can't install programs. I installed Snow Leopard using Lifehackers instructions. Everything works great except for my SATA DVD drive. I've search the forum and I thought my problem might be JMicron.kext, but after installing it, I still have the same issues.

I found this information in system profiler under harware, Serial-ATA:

Unknown AHCI Standard Controller:

Vendor: Unknown

Product: AHCI Standard Controller

Speed: 3 Gigabit

Description: AHCI Version 1.20 Supported

HP DVD Writer 1170d:

Model: HP DVD Writer 1170d

Revision: DH22

Serial Number:

Native Command Queuing: No

Detachable Drive: No

Power Off: No

Async Notification: No.

Under my kernal logs I get a lot of these messages:

SerialATAPI device reconfiguration did not complete successfully. (failedCommandInfo = 0x1)

My motherboard is a DFI BloodIron P35-T2RL.

North Bridge Intel P-35

South Bridge Intel ICH9R

4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Intel core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

EVGA Geforce 8800 GT 512MB

Should I buy a different brand SATA DVD drive?

Is there another kext file I need?

Please advise!

P.S I am using Snow Leopard and I was able to update to 10.61 successfully.
