Did anybody with a MSI E-series succeed in installing mac os on the laptop? If so how, and with which distro ? I saw somebody with a G-series install iDeneb 1.5 (as I recall, but with no errors).

I tried iPC 10.5.6, Kalyway 10.5.2, iDeneb 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 1.8. iPC and Kalyway don't even launch the instalation dvd. iDeneb launched the installation DVD perfectly, but after the reboot, the OS does not boot (boot1 and boot0 errors as well as boot MBR, boot done).

I have set the partition to active, I have tried to install a chameleon or pc_efi bootloader before the install from HDD (Used MacDrive to upload the files to the drive, I know it's wrong, but MAC OS simply dosen't mount my USB sticks to /Volumes/), AHCI on and off.

Should I try JMicron fix, or it just isn't my case? (I've heard MSI used to collaborate with JMicron)

Intel C2D T2410 2.0 Ghz

3gb ram

ati mobility radeon hd 3470

SATA Toshiba 250gb

Not sure if my DVD-ROM is SATA or IDE

PS: I would really enjoy Mac OS. My XP was just literally killed by a bunch of trojans I got from a USB stick after I pressed the wrong button on Spybot S&D, so I'm pissed off.

LE: I used efi's boot_v8 via ubuntu grub, but still not succeed ( boot.plist not found)

boot1 and boot0 it's problem easy to solve. You got it if previously Vista or Windows 7 was installed because it's rewrite mbr and you got this boot error. I got the same. there are 2 methods. First is to use usb-flash loader with linuxsys project and then you can choose a disk where installed OS X and start to boot it. Second more effective start XP installation disk and in menu where to choose disk to install delete active partition (where you want to install os x) and begin to install windows when it starts to copy files turn of notebook. Now you partition will be active and usable. And i recommend you to use iDeneb 10.5.7. I heard that some MSI nootebooks need to be reflashed with moded bios to normally start OS X. Try to google it if steps above not helps you.

P.S. Windows 7 is good as Leopard. Boot and works very fast and stable without lags enough better then XP.

Isn't the second method the same as using fdisk?

Yes, I know about the flashing, when I bought it, my bios was flashed with the latest version, the Vista compatible one, but I changed it to work with XP, it seems that Windows 7 works ok with the XP bios version. I will see about that linuxsys thing, can you please give me a link? I can't find anything on google or sourceforge

I have just installed windows 7, and I am very pleased of it, it's the best windows ever. But I would still like to try Mac OS,

Like fdisk but it make and fix mbr when starts to copy XP files.

About bootflash

1. Format your USBFLASH Drive

2. Copy Files from archive http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/ (syslinux-3.81.zip ) to disk c: in folder "syslinux" in windows

3. Open Terminal and type C:\Documents and Setting\Admin (or your account name if you are admin)

make commands:

cd \ c:

cd syslinux

cd win32

syslinux.exe -ma H:

If all done fine you'll se following:

С:\syslinux\win32>

Copy on flash drive files from archive http://www.mediafire.com/?d9nzydnj3vz:

BOOT, MBOOT.C32, SYSLINUX.CFG, SYSLINUX.SYS, INITRD.IMG

Start to boot from usbflash drive. When it loaded type 80 then enter 80 enter and you can see your hdd when installed OS choose and boot. It can start any OS including Win, Mac, Linux if your mbr is damaged.

About Mac i can say you one word, now i don't know is it worth to forward to mac from Win7 as if it more stable and none lag after 1,5 month of work + a big amount of software is win platform. )

P.S. I've been using R-Drive image program http://depositfiles.com/ru/files/cvrvbmlwl making through it boot usbflashdrive with this one then booting and backuping OS with option "sector by sector". And save backup files on other hdd partition. If i tried to install mac and then decided to return to win i boot from usbflash again and restore OS from backup files with same state which was when I backuping it. it's support too HFS+ (Leopard) and you can also restore you Mac if you backuping it previously. After restoring Win7 you need to start installation disk and fix mbr. It's takes about 20 mins with my 30gb partition instead of instaling from begining win7 + soft + activation + etc.

Let's help you in future )

Ok, I finally had time to figured it out. Managed to boot with usb stick, but it freezes on apple logo screen. Any ideas?

Okey.Try too boot in verbose mode choose disk and type -v then hit eneter. Make screenshot of screen (on which place it's stop working) with camera and post here.

But if you have time - try to install Snow Leopard following this (working like a charm) http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/how-to-inst...-on-a-pc-t3137/

Ok so it halts after MAC Framework successfully initialized Using 15720 buffer headers and 4096cluster io buffers

Installation om mac it's sometimes so unpredictable thing.

Try to delete framework kexts but make backups before deleting.

Best way for experiments it's to buy external hdd and install mac there. On base hdd install windows and program called macdrive it has access to mac os x drive read\write access you can manage files under windows and testing mac without reinstall. I know only one i backed up my mac os partition and recover it on different PC's and it worked with all PC and notebooks on which OS X can't be install with installation disk (not boot, hang or kernel panic). If have PC try to install OSX On it and check if this work fine than create the image file from partition and recover as active partition on your notebook. I'm sure on 90% it should work
