Can't plug any USB device.

I'm trying to get a USB nic working, but apparently, I have a problem with my USB controller.

I thought it was fine, because I can see all my 4 USB hubs in the system profiler and when I insert a device, I can see some activities in dmesg and system.log

 

but apparently, I may need to replace or patch my IOUSBFamily.kext

 

I wonder if anyone got a similar problem and a solution.

any help will be appreciated, I really dont know what to do from this point.

You might need the kext from 10.4.3, that's what I used and it works fine, although one small issue, when I connect a USB device (Nic or Hard disk/USBstick) it works on one prt, but the nect time, it no longer works n the port I used it in and have to unplug it and put it in another USB port. This happens all the time.

 

Only the usb mouse works in any port.

by "the kext" do you mean IOUSBFamily.kext ?

I tried using the 10.4.3 one, and it did not work, i got a different error message but still very similar.

I'm planning to literally try to install 10.4.3, i dont know if its a good idea.
