Ok, here is the situation:

I have just updated from "10.5.7" (iATKOS 10.5.7) to "10.5.8" downloading the "10.5.8" update dmg from apple.com

Everything went very smooth, no problems right now, everything looks perfect.

BUT

For some reason the kernel still showing as "Darwin 9.7.0", I have tried installing a couple of "10.5.8" kernels using "OSX886 Tools" but with no luck, the kernel still as "Darwin 9.7.0"

(I even tried to only install the kernel from iDeneb, but still the same)

Any ideas?

This is really frustrating.

System Software Overview:

System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a)

Kernel Version: Darwin 9.7.0

Boot Volume: Macintosh

Boot Mode: Normal

Computer Name: ***********s MacBook Pro

User Name: *********** (******)

Time since boot: 5 minutes

Your kernel is probably not named mach_kernel, and therefore it doesn't get overwritten. This can actually be useful.

Check your logs for a message about the name of the loaded kernel not matching something or other.

Check your com.apple.Boot.plist.

Open Terminal and have a look at the root of your system drive.

Well, you are a genious!!

That actually worked I edited the boot.plist, plus I edited the boot.plist of chameleon in the "Extras" folder and not it works perfecly.

Thanks for the tip :3

I'm no genius, the people who discover these things and write the code are the geniuses. 99,9% of what I post here is just repeating what others have said already.

If you are using Chameleon 2.0, you should leave /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist alone and make all your modifications to the one in /Extra instead.

That's kind of the point - being able to leave the system itself as unmodified as possible and have all your modifications working from /Extra.

I've attached a vanilla com.apple.Boot.plist for you.
