Mija24
If you're going to install Vista or 7, you can use Vista Boot PRO to add the iDeneb install to the windows boot manager, and after that, get into Mac OS X and install Chameleon (or just use the windows boot manager) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181435-how-to-setup-dual-boot-with-hackintosh-installed-first/#findComment-1234154 Share on other sites

srs5694
I already have chameleon installed. How would I go about partitioning my hdd so that I can install windows 7 on to it. There are a lot of ways to do it. The simplest is to set up MBR partitions like this: 1 - primary - HFS+ - OS X 2 - primary - NTFS - Windows 7 Since you don't say how your system is currently partitioned (how many partitions, what sizes, etc.), or even what partitioning system you're using (MBR or GPT), it's impossible to know how easy it'll be to produce this configuration. You might also want or need to tweak it in various ways; for instance, you might want or need to add a FAT partition for data exchange; or if you've got multiple current OS X partitions or some other OS, you might need to adjust this configuration -- possibly past the breaking point for a pure-MBR configuration. Broadly speaking, you'll probably need to locate something that can shrink an existing HFS+ partition. I'm fairly sure that some versions of GNU Parted can do this, but I'm not 100% positive of that. This feature may be build-dependent, too. If you need more help, you'll need to post more details. chokia
This works for both GPT and MBR as long as target partition for windows is within the 1st 4 partitions. 1. Boot OSX, Resize its partition for W7 using diskutility (only work with GPT, for MBR u need to have unpartitioned free space, if you dont then you need to reformat the whole disk) 2. Create partition fat32 for W7 3. Place W7 disc and reboot 4. Install W7 convert /format Fat32 to NTFS 5. Continue install until reboot, if Chameleon appears with another menu for W7 just click the new menu and continue installation (do not take out W7 disc until the screen when W7 ask you to type name and computer name) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181435-how-to-setup-dual-boot-with-hackintosh-installed-first/#findComment-1235868 Share on other sites

I tried Easybcd but that doesn't work I don't know what I should do next. You'll need to boot with your Mac OS install DVD and re-install Chameleon; see the installer's and/or Chameleon's instructions for details. Chances are you only need to re-install the MBR boot loader. I've also seen similar symptoms on a hybrid MBR setup in which the Windows partition is marked as "active" on the MBR side. In this case, though, there's a subtle difference: Chameleon loads its first stage, flashes a "boot0" message on the screen for a fraction of a second, and then boots Windows. Removing the "active" flag for the Windows partition in MBR fixes this problem.
