Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone else here is trying to get an Apsire 8930 to run Leopard? I sure could use some Help/brainstorming session. I currently have ipc 10.5.6, Ideneb 10.5.7 and kalyway 10.5.6 at my disposal, and can get a functional copy on every PC but this beast. If anyone was successful, or has some advice, i would be much appreciative.

Thanks.

Yep, I've got it a version running since jan-2009

Don't quite know how I did it anymore , but I didn't got

wifi

graphics (only low-res)

sound

so basicly it runs but thats it, I left it on a multi-boot but never used it afterwards

I'll try to look into it, what version I finally installed

But I can say this, there where several version I'd tried, only 1 would boot and install

and to my recall, you should start with the most simplified installation.

Thanks, I'm currently attempting Kalyway 10.5.6 Using only the Nvidia plugin. Im getting the impression this will be a hardcore trial and error. It's a shame, the Aspire 8930 seems almost Built to run the leopard OS, and its becoming increasinglin difficult to get a working setup.

I have an Acer 8930G and for the most part I've gotten things running.

I'm using iDeneb 1.5 OSX 10.5.7 and selected the following customizations:

NVinject 512

Azalia audio

Broadcom wifi (not working)

PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse fix (if using a USB to 2x PS/2 adapter)

(can't remember the rest...I'll add more to this post after I reinstall)

Because the new raw partition I made on my hard drive was undetected during install, and because I did not want to wipe it or put a new one in, I installed iDeneb onto a USB flash drive and I set it as boot device prior to its original hard drive.

Am I reading that you installed Ideneb as the OS on the flash drive or that you imaged the flash drive to run as the install disk.

The former. I've installed iDeneb onto a flash drive, and I run Leopard off of that flash drive. (Reimaging the iso/dmg to a flash drive only lets you use it in place of a DVD)

Disk Utility was not detecting my hard drive, but it showed the SD card I forgot to take out, so I tried inserting an 8gb USB flash drive which was detected, able to be formatted into an HFS+ Journaled partition, and have iDeneb installed onto it.

This works out for the better, as I did not have to repair my Vista bootloader (installing into a partition on the primary hard drive causes the bootloader to corrupt as well as a multitude of other problems needing Terminal to fix).

When I want to boot up Leopard, I just need to insert my "Hackbook Pwn" USB drive into the laptop and boot from it. While inserted, it uses the Chameleon or Darwin bootloader, whereas if it not inserted, Vista automatically loads.

That makes sense, considering some of the issues I have. Ideneb never sees my HHds in te laptop so I usually pull out my second hard drive and use it on my desktop to complete the install. I am trying to install it on the second HD to insure hfs boot speed. I'm only confused as to why ideneb on the aspire will not read any hhds and while esata on my custom pc it reads perfectly. Oh well back to the grind.

I have installed ideneb 10.5.6. on the second drive. Can't remember what i chose exactly but all was working out of the box except for Intel 5100 AGN and sound.

Then i changed the wifi card to a atheros card and installed voodoo hda so both wifi and sound is working!

now to updated to 10.5.8. seems ok. but gotta figure out how to sort out the sleep and hibernation problem.

Ok so now i know that the kext for the Intel wlan 5100 wifi card does not exist. SImple enough solution, I am buying a usb wifi card as a quick fix, worth the 30 dollars IMO. So as of right now, here is the Rundown:

Ideneb 10.5.6.

Essential Package

Additional- PS2 Keyboard Fix(Hardware tends to ignore keyboard otherwise)

NVidia Inject (will absolutely work) just select your vram amount.

Chipset- ICH (standard Intel)

Do NOT Select Voodoo 9.5.5(will lock you out of administrator rights)

SSE3 9.2.2 will remove the locks.

Fixes:

Select battery manager, cpupm, firewiredisable.

Not Working

Sound Card-???

Wlan- Intel 5100 agn (usb stick will replace it)

Ethernet Atheros 8113 family

Still working on it, but please lmk if you have found working drivers for this or ANY other version of OSX86
