Hi,

I was installing Chameleon 2.0 RC1 on my new system, that has been installed IPC 10.5.6 and a fresh 10.5.7 upgrade this afternoon.

After rebooting the system shows me the apple logo and loads for a second and then the "you must restart the computer..." informations ins filling the screen.

I do not know what is going on. I am using Chameleon 2.0 RC1 also on my Netbook 1000HE and there has never been such a problem.

I don´t know how to fix this problem on my desktop.

Hope anybody can help me out.

thanks

The kernel panic you see relates to AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily......try reinstalling AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily kexts from 10.5.7......

1. Where do I get the AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily kexts from 10.5.7? Just have them Upgrade .dmg from the Website.

2. How can I install the kexts if I can´t login to OS X? Is there a way to do that?

3. Do you think reinstalling iPC 10.5.6, after that Chameleon 2.0 RC1 and then the 10.5.7 Upgrade would fix it unstead of iPC ->10.5.7 Upgrade -> Chameleon 2.0 RC1 like last time?

Sorry a typo.....I mean the 10.5.6 version of these kexts.....Use Pacifist once you can log in to OS X

Can you not log by booting with -v -x ?

I cannot see why using Chameleon would affect the 10.5.7 versions of the kexts overwriting the 10.5.6 versions....

Boot with your installation DVD, run Terminal and delete the kext that causes the kernel panic from there. Don't forget to delete Extensions.mkext as well.

You can use Pacifist to extract kexts from an installation package.

I fixed it by using the iPC Installation Disk.

I could not login by using -s,-f,-v or -x

After inserting the iPC Disk I just reinstalled the AppleHDA of 10.5.6 and that fixed everything. Now I got the Chameleon 1.0 bootloader again, but that doesn´t matter. Just reinstalled Chameleon 2.0 again and no boot error.

Everything seems to work, except the sleep mode. How can I fix that?

sound is ok. LAN will be checked within an hour. Just need the kext for the Gigabyte Geforce 9500GT 1GB.

Can´t find the kext file for the Gigabyte version. Or can I use any other kext of another brand like Palin or EVGA or something like that?

Can somebody provide me with that? THe resolution sucks and I don´t really want to use my Quad Core machine and 9500GT 1GB with just 32MB recognized.

:)

Nvidia drivers do not work by brand, they work by device ID and chiptype (NV40, NV50 etc)

If your device ID is not present in the drivers that ship with OSX you have to insert it in the appropriate kernel extensions yourself.

With that fixed, you need an injection method. You can use a device property string, an injector kext or the injector that's integrated in the Chameleon 2.0 RC2 bootloader.

I use an injector called NVEnabler, you can find it at the ProjectOSX forums. There's also an excellent universal Nvidia guide over there that (hopefully) will answer all your questions.

i get the following error after hitting "Apply changes to com.apple.Boot.plist":

AppleScript Error

/bin/sh: /Applications/OSx86: No such file or directory (127)

What do I have to install or add so that the Efi string will be added to com.apple.Boot.plist`?

Are you running OSX86Tools straight from the .dmg image? Copy it to your Utilities or Applications folder before running it and then try again.

com.apple.Boot.plist is in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration, but if you're using the Chameleon 2.0 bootloader you should leave that file alone and edit the one in /Extra instead. You can insert the device properties into the file by hand.

Or just leave it and use NVEnabler.
