After migrating to 10.5.8, I received kernel panics in my Pavilion dv9700 at AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement with the alert "No HPETs available ... CPU(s) configured incorrectly".

I had been using the Munky EFI method at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...c=127330 which up until then was working FLAWLESSLY.

After a lot of trial and error, I noticed that when I used a more current Darwin bootloader from cd-rom with the cpus=2 command, it booted into the OS.  But trying cpus=2 with the munky EFI did not.  I figured that it was because the munky darwin bootloader didn't support the command.

I decided to eraseVolume the EFI partition and install Chameleon 2 there (assuming that it would support the cpus=2 command).  I set the GUI=n to get the prompt.  But when I ran it, and entered cpus=2 it wouldn't load the OS.  Running it in verbose mode doesn't show a panic, but rather it seems to freeze after attemping some network negotiation.

Does someone have experience with loading Chameleon into the EFI partition and knows what I'm doing wrong?  Your help would be greatly appreciated.
