I just updated to 10..5.8 and I'm still having a few issues. I'm going to list them below

1) Crossover will not open. Under 10.5.7 I would at least get the error message asking me if I want to open the program again (granted it still would not open) but under 10.5.8 the top bar will change to show that crossover is opening then the program closes out and the top bar reverts back to the finder options.

2) Adobe Flash options are not click-able. In other words, when I enter a chat room I can not change my camera option because nothing in the options box works. :(

3) Not exactly related but if there's someone who knows about running OSX on a Dell Inspiron E1505, may you please create youtube tutorials on the following... Getting the Wi-Fi to work, enabling Quartz Extreme and getting the dual core to work. Sorry but Im just not so good with tutorials when it comes to terminal commands.

4) NEW Issue: After updating iAtkos 10.5.7 to 10.5.8, the Disc drive now has this weird glitch where I can insert a disc and as long as I'm doing something with that disc (that keeps the disc spinning) like watching a movie or browsing files, the Computer pics up on the fact that the disc is in the drive and I can still eject the disc BUT, when I let the disc rest in the drive for a while and then try to eject it later, the computer acts like the disc is non existent. I cant even drag the icon to the trash to eject the disc.

5) Lastly, thank you all for your help!

OK... Im going to give you all my specs just in case anyone wants or needs my tech specs.

I'm running 10.5.8 on a Dell E1501 Inspiron laptop

Edit: OK, I shortened my Spec list. I hope this makes things better.

Tip: make it easy to help you.

For one, make your specs less annoying to read.

And please remove all the totally useless and redundant stuff like height, width and "NOTE: Optional video controller upgrades are available for your computer subject to availability at the time of purchase."

You can fix your new issue by disabling hard drive sleep in Energy Saver preferences.

Your specs mention three different video cards!

Also, apart from the STAC9200 audio, it doesn't say anything useful or conclusive about the rest of the hardware from the point of view of someone who is searching for drivers.

I'm sorry... The dumb Dell website isnt exactly helpful when it comes to finding specs. Should I just post what it says in my "Apple System Profiler"?

Run terminal (oooh scary!) and type:

kextstat -l >~/Desktop/kexts.txt

Download OSX86Tools and install lspci (Click 'view PCI Device/Vendor ID and follow the instructions)

Then paste the contents of the resulting text files here.

OK, this is a loooong entry but I hope this provides some useful info :) BTW I managed to get Quartz GL to work but Quartz Extreme is still outtie.

That is much, much better, you should send it to Dell so they can post it on their website.

Now you have the exact name, vendor (that's the first number, 8086 is Intel for example) and Device IDs for all the hardware in your computer.

Congratulations, you are now fully equipped to use google and the site search to find the drivers you need. You can use the same information to search what other people have done to get the same hardware working.

It looks like you already have drivers running for the two Broadcom devices and VoodooHDA driving the sound.

From what I've heard about QuartzGL, it's supposed to enable itself whenever an application requests it, and there's no advantage to forcing it on all the time.

One thing is for certain, it will not do anything unless you get Core Image and Quartz Extreme (video hardware acceleration) up and running first. Running OSX without it is like using half a Mac. Fixing this will probably sort out your problems with flash media and Crossover.

I'm guessing the two entries for the Intel GMA graphics are for the internal display and the external display port.

Try "Intel 945 27a2 27a6" as a search term.
