Hello all, first time Hackintosh builder and I have just some general knowledge questions first. And if you have any links to good reading (other than whats stickied here) I'd appreciate it!

Why I'm doing this: I was pricing out a Mac Pro, when I thought "for what I'm getting, they are really sticking it to me price wise. They sell a boxed copy of 10.5 for $129, and I know the hardware doesn't cost that much at RETAIL, why a manufacturer couldn't use some of its volume to bring down hardware prices is most likely due to Mac's dominance of, well, the Mac market."

And here I am. What I want to do is put two W5580s, 32 gigs of RAM, and several one terabyte enterprise class drives together in RAID 10. And have a GTX285 GPU (I won't game on this but I don't want the GPU to be able to bottleneck the system while rending multiple objects). Using the EVGA GTX285 for Mac isn't a big deal to me, but the fact is that Mac doesn't support any RAID cards but its own, and I don't know if the W5580s will work (after all, they technically only sell the system with the X5570).

I have the hardware building put together well, I'm setting it up for water cooling in fact (XSPC and Feser), but its the software that is bugging me. Chameleon? Whats this about using a linux kernel to preload an environment that will allow an install? And what about driver support for the motherboard that isn't Mac certed? I also plan on virtualizing Windows Seven Ultimate in it someday, so if there are special steps needed for that, any and all help would be appreciated.

Any and all links and discussion on stuff like that would be appreciated. Thanks for having me here!
