napjulius Posted August 11, 2009 Share Posted August 11, 2009 hello, after weeks and weeks, which turned into months, of reading this forum and researching the web (and youtube) i decided to build my own rig for OS X. My first try with iPC Final distro was a failure; forgot to enable ACHI in the BIOS. so i got iPC installed and running pretty well except for sound and some other hiccups, but what i really want is to install retail on my hackintosh. I found a great step-by step link here in the forum to use grub-dfe.iso with retail. however whenever i replace the bootloader with the osx disc i get this message over and over: EBIOS read error: error 0x04 block 14707768 sectors 64 is my disc bad. doesn't seem to have really bad stractches or anything. when booted into iPC it reads the disc normally. the same when i put it into my mac pro. it is a dvd-dl copy that i have of my lost original retail but as a student i can get it again for cheap. any suggestions from you guys thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/179231-ebios-read-error-error-0x04/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
