I've attempted to use iDeneb, iAtkos, as well as iPC on my Toshiba L3005D Laptop which is running an AMD Athlon X2 QL-62 Dual Core Processor which requires the use of the Voodoo kernel to boot properly into the CD, but when booting up from the CD doing the command to use the Voodoo Kernel it goes into a kernel panic with the Mach Kernel and fails to load the voodoo kernel and I haven't found out a way to get past this point. But other than that I have 3gb of ram, I also have a 250 GB hard drive and I'm running an ATI Mainboard, from what I can immediately remember from memory. Any help or insight on this would be very much appreciated, thanks again.

I have installed KALYWAY 10.5.1 and it too doesn't work properly. It freezes at the point after displaying the MAC address. I am using a Compaq Presario B1255 TU. Any help will be appreciated. I have tried installing the 10.5.6 Retail Version too but it hangs at the same point. Any idea as to why is it happening???

Hey AproSumarai,

Can you post some more details? For example on iDeneb 10.5.6 can you get a screenshot of the KP and explain EXACTLY what happens. Screenshots from your BIOS will help too. (By screenshot of course I mean a photo with a digital camera). And of course the Everest report.

Cheers,

Potenuse

P.S. I'm seeing references to a BIOS upgrade from Insyde on other forums. First thing to try....

Well heres the everest report it's quite long as well, I'll also have to get the KP and bios pictures later because my own Digital Camera can't get the pictures clear enough to read, so I'll have to borrow one from a friend. But I will get them to you.

Thanks again.

Sys_Report.txt

Ok thanks for the report. Some strange things in these new Toshiba systems. Look forward to seeing the KP shots.

Yeah, I'll be sure to get you the kernel panic shots to you today as well as pictures from within the bios, which is very limited but yeah, I'll be sure to get then for you in a bit.

Again, thanks for the help.

EDIT: Here are the Bios and Kernel Panic Pictures, I just used a more common boot command, because they all seem to return the same Panic.

I had to rar the files because a majority of them would not show up on the site, sorry if it's a bit inconvenient for you.

OK. I've looked through the panics. Let's proceed by elimination.

There's nothing obviously wrong in the BIOS settings although I agree it's a black-box BIOS and frustratingly there's not much to play with.

1)You currently have version 1.4 I think. Is there an update?

2)Strip your rig down: Remove EVERYTHING but motherboard. All PCIs all USB all Firewire.

3)Plug your screen into the onboard VGA controller (the one in the motherboard).

4)Try booting into iDeneb 10.5.5 (I've found this one to be the most flexible)

Let me know what happens. (with screen shots - try imageshack for uploads)

Cheers

I pretty have burnt a DVD of all the Distros, but yeah.

Hmmmmmm, at the moment, version 1.4 Rev.3.5 is the latest version, which isn't comforting at all, and at the moment thing that is stopping me now is the stripping part, that may be the stopping point for me as this is a newer laptop and I'm not sure how well it'll go, and I don't want to risk messing up in the process of taking it apart, so I'm going to have to decline as I'm not skilled enough in the taking apart of laptops as I am in more or less the area of desktops, thanks again for all of your help, I greatly appreciate it, but yeah I can't bring myself to do it that way, even though it may be the only way. I'm dedicated to trying to get it on my laptop, but my dedication doesn't go past my knowledge of a situation, so I know my limit.

Again thanks. If theres any other way I would be happy to try but taking apart my laptop is beyond my level of expertise.

Ah yes. Forgot it was a lappy. A bit fiddly to pull apart - you may just find however that you can disactivate all unnecessary hardware in the BIOS and then turn it on again later... especially if there's an updated BIOS...

Good luck...

Yeah which makes it a bit complicated and I've looked for and found no version over 1.4 or any Revisions either, and also by going into my bios I found:

1.Dynamic CPU Frequency: [Dynamic]

2.Pointing Devices: [Enabled]

3.Built-in Lan: [Enabled]

4.Wake-Up on Lan: [Enabled]

5.Critical Battery Wake-Up: [Enabled]

6.Legacy USB Support: [Enabled]

7.Wake On KeyBoard:[Disabled]

8.SATA Controller Mode: [AHCI]

Not many options to edit, but thats as far as my bios will let me go, sadly enough.

Ok. Try disabling the onboard Lan and Legacy USB...

Infact, to be thorough you should disactivate every option one by one and take note of what (if anything) changes.

Aha I deactivated everything that could be, and still the same kernel panic, so I really don't know what to say or do as nothing changed and I received the same kernel panic...
