gabiz_ro
Hello As I see some people reported as working their Atheros AR5008 AR5146 cards, but not providing much extra info. I'm using iDeneb 1.3 on Toshiba laptop.I have miniPCI Broadcom which works but too low signal so I'm using one PCMCIA card Belkin N1 mimo AR5008 class with AR5416 chipset which work fine in windows xp,seven and linux but not in osx86. Device id was 168c:0023 or 168c:23 in osx which was already in atheros kext and I added in atheros5424 kext. Card was recognized as network controller, unknown vendor 5772 (which is 168c in decimal) when connected but unavailable in network preferences. Since ath_info don't work for AR5008 because of different eprom structure I use other methods to try some rebranding. But even if now is recognized by lspci as an apple branded card still don't work and still unknown vendor 5772 this one reside from mac address I think but just change it in eprom result in bricked card because of checksum. Here is lspci output Network controller [0280]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0024] (rev 01) Subsystem: Apple Computer Inc. Device [106b:0087] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 168, Cache Line Size: 128 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 also tried with 168c:0023 and 106b:0086 but same situation. Here is some info gathered from eprom dump. Could somebody with enough skills read eprom from woking card to provide me? Thanks! Then I might be able to provide you with a dump that works (although from a mini pci card) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/177859-ar5008-need-help/#findComment-1227552 Share on other sites
Guest 1bugmenot
Any update on tihs...? I would like to change the PCI device ID on an AR5008X as well but haven't figured it out yet. ath_info doesn't seem to work as it says it cannot find the Magic Number.
