Beerkex'd
Forget the X-fi, there are no drivers for it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/177101-custom-built-pc-info/#findComment-1211829 Share on other sites
060592nick
Well I can't afford the X-Fi anytime soon anyway lol. Is there another sound card you would suggest? Or what are the chances that someone will get the drivers for X-Fi and make them mac compatible? Beerkex'd
You would need the source code to do that and I don't think Creative Labs wants you or anyone else to have it. Get a motherboard with on-board Intel HDA-based sound (or use an external USB/Firewire sound card). I don't know which is the most compatible. Check the wiki and the database (links up top) for compatible hardware. 060592nick
Alright. So most of the PC is assembled now, minus a SATA HD (Im using IDE due to monetary constraints right now lol). I want to install the Mac OS, so what version of the CD would you suggest? Kally, iDeneb, Leo4all, etc. You can help me out a lot if you can tell me the version and such. Thanks a lot! Oh, and am I going to have any problems with my motherboard for this? Is it supported alright? Beerkex'd
I haven't been following development lately but unless things have changed I think the i7 CPU needs a modified kernel to work. So if that's still true you should look for a hackintosh distribution that says it has i7 CPU support - or a Chameleon/Boot-132 CD that has X58 chipset/i7 support so that you can install from a retail DVD.
