It was not as simple to install 10.5.7 on my ThinkPad X60 from a retail dvd (10.5.6) as I expected. It took me awhile to figure

 

out that you need an external display because you cannot use the laptop display until you install GMA950 driver.

 

(Otherwise, all you can see in the OSX installation process is just a blue screen without a mouse pointer.) You also might

 

need a USB mouse in the case you lose control of keyboard and trackpoint.

 

I used several packages from iPC DVD to save time, but you could find those packages by google. I still have mouse pointer

 

ghosts occasionally, but I will fix it later since it does not really bother me.

 

Required files (You can find most of them in this site or by google.)

Retail OSX DVD (10.5.6)

generic.iso burn on a CD-R (boot cd)

10.5.7 update

chameleon 2.0 r431

kext helper

DSDT patcher (GUI)

iPC DVD packages or google them

 

0) Don't forget to put an external display onto x60.

 

1) boot with boot cd and then replace it with retail DVD to install OSX.

2) once 10.5.6 is installed, install 10.5.7 update right away. (I recommend you not setup a password at this point since

 

keyboard may not work during the process.)

3) boot with boot cd, and select the install partition in safe mode (-x) to start osx. (once it's booted, i recommend you make

 

an image of the install partition onto another partition or an external hdd/usb drive to make your next trial quicker.)

4) install chameleon 2.0 r431, kext helper, dsdt patcher (i used the gui version.) (don't restart yet.)

5) open generic.iso to find initrd.img. open initrd.img and copy everything in extra (of initrd.img) into /extra.

6) restart x60 to see chameleon work.

7) install GMA950 package.

8) shut down, take the external display off x60 and turn it on back.

9) (now, your x60 LCD monitor should be working.)

So far, the following things are working.

 

Network, WiFi, Bluetooth, video, shutdown, restart

 

You need to set up following items now.

 

Audio, keyboard, Track Point, power management, sleep (or SpeedStep), fingerprint scanner, (SDHC if you need)

10) backup powermanagement.bundle in /system/library/systemconfiguration as usual.

11) the packages to be installed are:

 

AppleAzaliaAudio for audio

PS2FixKeyboard and PS2FixMouse for keyboard, Track Point

PowerManagement, AppleACPIBatteryManager and AppleSMBIOS-MacBook for power management

ProtectorSuite for fingerprint scanner

ClamshellDisplay for sleep

 

12) restart. restore powermanagement.bundle to /system/library/systemconfiguration if you lose battery meter. (Setup a

 

password now that keyboard works correctly.)

13) install ProtectorSuite

14) remove applelpc.kext out of /system/library/extensions (and /extra/extensions if exists.)

15) copy /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext to your desktop (or somewhere.)

 

**** Maybe, you should run dsdt patcher at this point, and make dsdt.aml in / (root.) rename it DSDT.aml. also copy

 

DSDT.aml into /extra/extensions. ****

 

16) remove /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

17) open ~/desktop/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPILPC.kext/Contents/Info.plist in Text Editor.

18) find the line "<string>pci8086,27b9</string>" and delete (or comment out) this line. Save and quit the editor.

19) copy ~/desktop/AppleACPIPlatform.kext to /extra/extensions

19) run kext helper, and install AppleACPIPlatform.kext

20) now, you can restart x60 to start using it.
