eski72
I seem to have a 99% successful first install of OSX on PC but still have a couple of kinks to iron out...I think Asus P6T SE i7 920 6GB Corsair XMS3 1333 nVidia Quadro FX 1700 ASUS DRW-20B1LT SATA DVD 200GB SATA Seagate (Vista only drive, no partition) 500GB SATA WD Caviar Green (Partitioned; OSX and MS-DOS) 40GB IDE I followed a tutorial (many thanks to edumetz16) from insanelymac for iDeneb 1.3. I installed AppleAzaliaAudio, ICHx Fix, JMicronATA, VIA-SB, Kernel 9.4.0StageXNU, Skge Marvell ethernet, NVinject 0.2.1 512MB, ACPI-fix, the kext for DDR3 1333 RAM and a number of applications. I then did the DSDT patch and edited the boot.plist. Rebooted and enabled HT and All cores. Now OSX boots in about 15 seconds and almost everything runs like a charm. Problem: Twice while running xBench the screen froze and I got the grey box in the middle of the screen saying I must restart. It's also happened while burning a DVD with 4 finder windows open and Safari. It hasn't caused me any great trouble yet but I need to use this for FinalCut in a couple of weeks and don't want to be randomly freezing and losing work! I'm new to this so please excuse my lack of correct terminology and if anyone can help, I'll probably need it blow by painful (for you anyway) blow. I'm also getting varying reports from "About This Mac" about the number of cores I'm running. 7 at startup and then later 10 or 11. Is this merely a cosmetic blip I should just deal with or an actual problem? eski72
I thought I may have fixed the problem by disabling sleep. Now it's just crashed while running adobe downloader and the screensaver popped up. I've turned off screensaver now too so fingers crossed that I'll get it working well enough to write a guide for any other noobs with a similar setup.
