EP41-UD3L with Iatkos V7 everything works! Dual Boot XPSP3 Install Guide

Just want to thank this community, been reading for 2 weeks before going out and getting the hack mac.

Everything works, all graphic accelerations, sound, LAN everything.

1. MB is EP41-UD3L Rev 1, BIOS F4

2. CPU Core 2 Duo 2.93

3. 500GB Seagate Sata

4. 4GB Kingston RAM

5. Asus 8400GT Silent (no fan version)

6. 500W power supply with case

 

1. I spliited the HD into two partitions using partition magic. 250GB  x 2.

2. I installed Windows XP SP3..loaded latest Nvidia drivers, which crash the computer by the way. Had to revert to the one on the CD. Loaded up the usual stuffs, tested alright works.

3. Got IATKOS V7

4. Burned that to DVD.

5. Booted up into IATKOS V7 DVD.

Format the second partition to HFSJ

6. Install options...as far as I can remember

a.the shutdown kext

b. Nvinject

c. the 81 series Realtek driver LAN

d. sound..the default first one, can't remmber.

e. don't install the acpi driver.

f. Chamelon 2.0

g. Install the NTFS 3g driver, really nice you can write to NTFS partitions.

 

Now here's the important part.

As soon as it's done, it will reboot into the OSX partition.

It will give you a boot0:error.

Your XPSP3 is still there don't worry.

Download and burn BOOT132 Magic CD.

Use that and the corresponding Menu to get into OSX.

The Leopard movie will load. Do all your registration thingy.

Now you will arrive at the desktop...voilla..Everything runs, perfectly.

But you still can't boot without the 132Magic CD.

now leave the CD in the drive and reboot, make sure it boots from the CD,

go back into Windows XP.

Install the awesome Chinese Boothink 2 for Windows. The Mac version doesn't work for some reason. A little file, it will unrar everything into the proper place.

Go into My computer, mangement, disk management, make SURE the Windows Partition is the active partition. (took me many tries to figure out this trick.)

Not done just yet, reboot using the boot132 Magic CD, get in Leopard.

Now do a repair permissions, it will fix alot of stuffs.

Take the CD out, and reboot.

It will pop into the Bootthink Menu, looks very much like bootcamp.

Choose your OS.

 

A word of caution, keep the boot132 Magic CD handy, sometimes the bootloader screws up a bit, use the CD too boot into OSX and repair permission.

Works for me!

It's nice being on a Mac again, after 6 years of great sailing into the unknowns with XP.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1 more thing.

Don't forget to use USB keyboard and USB Mouse!

i've got a different system, but when i try to boot into xp i get stuck at "calling chainbooter" and clue how to get around this when using boot 132.
