Hey Folks,

Since ive finally sorted out my Svideo > TV I figured I better get FrontRow working.

Im running Myzar's 10.4.5 DVD with his Update #3 to make it 10.4.6

Ive tried 2 ways of installing Front Row:

1. Use Front Row Enabler

2. Restore Bezel stuff and then use Pacifist

Both have the same problem; it does nothing!

Its not displayed in the keyboard tab either.

Running the app does nothing; even through terminal!

Please help if you can!

:(

Screw this...

I have great respect for the most of you here; but none whatsoever for the 81 people who have viewed this thread and said nothing despite knowing the answer or otherwise.

I understand that you are inendated with muppets and I appreciate that.

Im simply after an answer from those who have it.

This is atleast the 5th unanswered question I have posted....Thanks....

Each to their own; I am a Reverse Engineer and I know my stuff in that subject, as you lot evidentally do in yours.

Difference being I help people when they ask.

If I happen to see any of you on my own forum; Dont worry I will recipricate my warm welcome ive had on this forum.. (Bit of sarcasm if you didnt catch it there)

Hi,

It is difficult to explain.

The frontrow enabler however does not work in most cases. Better try the way with the FrontRowPass.kext,

and before you do that, copy back your bezel backup. Simply do a reverse engeneer search for

frontrowpass ;p

Actually there are two frameworks: the bezel farmework itself that should not be replaced, and

another one in the startup files of osx, located under System/loginPlugins/ called BezelServices.loginPlugin.

Now, if you ran one of these installer once, it may have overwritten your

original BezelServices.loginPlugin. Worst case would be to extract it from the DVD with pacifist.

Good luck. :)

Many thanks xtraa, I will give that a go :D

My RF USB Mouse is in the post and should be here anyday; I reckon it would do the job.

And as for being a reverse engineer; I am also a Cracker (although covered under the same title pretty much) for windows stuff.

So if ya need anything doing just PM me.

ive tried using my logitech RF mouse (with usb receiver)on this with no avail.... so i went back to an old optical usb mouse with flawless result.. hope u will be successful on the RF mouse

ps

i did not use the enabler... i use this solution here with usb mouse

Glad to hear that ;)

Now, if you need a remote control, you can do it with your RF mouse, too. i wrote a script for iKey, that translates the mouseclicks to the frontrow control keys whenever frontrow is enabled.

I wrote this script for a logitech MX700, but it should work with ervery device, if you assign the buttons you like.

That way it is very handy to control FrontRow fom anywhere in the room. (Works here also if I am in the kitchen and I want to skip a track for example)

:)

RF Mouse arrived today; works fine in OSX but because it isnt picked up as a mouse (just USB device) there is no product ID to place into FrontRowPass.kext

Ive looked at your script, but I cant get iKeys to work for the life of me!

Hi,

afaik you can take any USB device for the FrontRowPass.kext. So if you have a Bluetooth dongle or

something else, just enter the Vendor/Dev ID there and it should work. Maybe it has to be an HID device, I

am not sure about that.
