polygonlynx
Hi Everyone, I have a sound problem with iAtkos 7i. The sound works but during video playback there begins to be a garbled and distorted noise. It gets worse and the sound goes silent, then it comes back on and off but in the form of distortion and the sound is all garbled. It keeps doing this catastrophically and it makes video editing impossible as it screws with the playback. I have a Gigabyte GA-P35 S3L Motherboard with realtek alc888 codec. I have a Nvidia 8800GT graphics card also. Please help, I have tried all the codecs for use with alc888 and used a codec dump from a live cd session of ubuntu. Same problem every time. Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/175969-sound-problems/ Share on other sites
nightfighter
Hi man, I thinck this guide will help you http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75564 ,in my opinion the problem isn't in the codec that you use but the driver, unless of course the problem is only while playback video+audio. Then i couldn't help you with the codecs, maybe try to playback the video on Quick time and see if it's ok,then you'll be sure the problem is in the video editing program. polygonlynx
Thank you for the advice. The problem rears its head usually when playing flash video like on Veoh or Youtube. iMovie sometimes plays the video and sound fine, but then after a while if not immediately, it lags and the sound is all garbled and plays in a stop-go manner. Really weird problem and i can't find anyone having the same issue. polygonlynx
Anyone have the same problem? It sounds like clipping and the sound stutters a lot intermittently. It's the worst. Sysyphus
I had the same issue as you are describing, I re-installed iAtkos v7 but without the Voodoo HDA drivers, once installed I searched the forums for a driver for my sound card and installed that. You could read through this link for any others reporting the problem: iAtkos v7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/175969-sound-problems/#findComment-1207701 Share on other sites

Strangely though, after many installs and reinstalls of the same driver, my sound is more integral now. It still does the same thing when i have a virtual Machine running but only a little. Now videos and playback on itunes is flawless.. i dunno what happened..
