Hi everyone,

I have been searching the web and this forum for some answers but I'm coming up a bit confused. Mostly because I'm thinking my XPS might be too new. I realize there are other threads here, but the last activity wasn't since last April, so I thought I should start anew.

Specs:

Dell XPS 420 BIOS A06

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600

2.40 GHz

8 MB Cache

3 GB RAM

Nvida GeForce 9800 GT

SigmaTel High Defination Audio

Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-card

I have a Mac Retail version (10.5.0) and attempted to put it into the computer. It wouldn't boot so I then after searching; burned off a generic boot disk. That got me to the gray apple splash screen but to my dismay came up with a "Do Not Enter" sign and the ring just kept going around in circles for a good while. I restarted and searched some more. I'm now downloading Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD in hopes that it works.

I've seen a lot of problems with the 420's, and those who say they've got it going almost flawlessly never shared their secrets.

So I hope someone can give me a hand and shed some light!

Thanks!

*Update*

Just a quick update, I put in Kalyway into the disk drive, but alas, all I got was a nice message repeating itself over and over again.

EBIOS Read Error: 0x01

*Update*

Currently downloading iATKOS v7 and we'll see how it works.

Thanks for the help. It seemed to have given me a glimmer of hope. I've gotten past the gray splash page to another dead end. Once I get to the point where I would normally be able to choose my language, it just stays at the pinwheel, in attempts to load the first window.

So almost there, each hour seems to be a slow trek forward lol.
