Shutdown/Startup/Sleep Issues

I recently installed iPC 10.5.6 and updated to 10.5.7 on the following system:

 

GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L Motherboard

Integrated ALC662 HD Audio Codec

Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00Ghz

Corsair "DOMINATOR" DDR-2 800 @ 4-4-4-12

Radeon HD 4870 512mb (w/ Full CE/QI)

500 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Disk

 

I use USB keyboard and mouse, updated through Software Update after thorough research that it works with my system.

 

I have two issues; The first is that whenever my monitor is turned off, it doesn't receive signal when turned back on. It doesn't matter when, you can even turn it off manually and it doesn't come back on until a hard shutdown and reboot. This makes sleep unusable. This isn't a monitor issue because I can turn it on and off in my windows partition.

 

The second issue is that whenever I do a software shutdown or restart, I get stuck at a black screen with nothing on it, and my monitor goes into standby. From this point I must do a hard shutdown (my case has no reset switch for some odd reason, CM590).

 

EDIT: Ok, shutdown works again, but I can't restart.
