Hi there !

J'ive just finished the installation of the JaS 10.5.4 release and the system is not able to load himself.

My computer boot correctly on the good disk and partition (previously I have had the boot1 : error, now it's okay!) but the loading screen display a small image which mean something like "forbidden" :D

I join a screenshot I've made from vmware (because I have the same problem with vmware and a previous version of osx, and the results are similar).

I have a Core 2 Duo E8400, ATI RADEON 4870 and a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard.

Do you have any idea ?

P.S: excuse my bad english :(

That's the user friendly "take me to the apple store" screen.

Boot with -v so you can see what's really going on.

Thanks for the answer Beerkex'd' :D

With the verbose mode, I have this :

From path: "uuid",

Waiting for boot volume with UUID XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2>boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

Still waiting for root devices

Still waiting for root devices

Still waiting for root devices

Still waiting for root devices

Still waiting for root devices

...

Of course, the system is still waiting for root devices now :D

Is there a problem with my hard disk or with my partition ?

It is the fourth partition on my disk (and the second primary). With the installer, his name his disk0s3 and if I look inside with macdrive (or something) I can see there is a lot ot directories (I mean that I think the installation was really ok).

Edit: Oh, and it's an IDE disk !

The OS can't start because it doesn't recognize the PATA controller on your motherboard.

Your motherboard uses one that's external to the chipset, ICH10 has no PATA support.

You have to find out what PATA controller that is - or use a SATA hard drive plugged into the ICH10.
