Hey guys, I'm hoping to order the parts to build an OSx86 rig and plan to do a retail DVD install. I've got everything picked out except a motherboard and am hoping for something cheap (sub-$100) to fit in with the rest of the build. I'd prefer one which takes as little work as possible to get running and 10.5.7 compatibility is a must. I currently have a 9600 GSO video card in the build which I'm under the impression will work with just an EFI string since 10.5.7 includes the needed drivers. Here's the current list (click for NewEgg link):

CPU: Intel Pentium E5200 ($70)

RAM: OCZ Reaper 4GB DDR2 ($35)

Video Card: Asus 9600 GSO ($35)

HDD: Samsung HD502IJ 500GB ($60)

DVD Drive: LG 22X DVD±RW ($25)

PSU: Apevia 500W ($20)

Case: GigaByte GZ-X5 ($25)

Certainly not a performance rig, but it'll handle OS X smoothly I'm sure. The PSU is a cheap one, but seems to get decent NewEgg reviews and has dual 12v rails with acceptable amperage. So this just leaves me looking for a motherboard - any suggestions?

Thanks :D

Cool, definitely in my price range. I found a kit here - http://leopardsoup.pbworks.com/es2l_preparation - that seems like it includes what I need to get thsi thing running. It's been a while since I've done anything OSx86 related, so if you could bear with me and let me know if I have the right idea here:

1. Boot off boot132

2. Install Leopard off retail DVD

3. Update with 10.5.7 combo update

4. Install the kit I linked to

5. Add EFI string with EFI Studio for the 9600

Seem right? The only thing I don't like about that kit I linked to is that it seems to be using PC_EFI v9 and I'd rather be running Chameleon 2.0. Can I just install Chameleon over it? Thanks.
