doug_1986
Hello!! I hope that I have posted this in the right place - am a new user! If anyone could help me with this that would be amazing! I have an error after installing Kalyway 10.5.2 on my system - when I try to boot the newly installed OS, it simply freezes at the apple logo. with -V it stops after; "Mac framework Successfully Initialized Using 16384 Buffer Headers and 4096 Cluster Buffer Headers" It simply freezes there and won't do anything! If it run it with 'cpus=1 -V' then the same happens, but with 'cpus=1' I get the apple loading spinny thing under the apple logo, but still it hangs. I have also tried '-f -x -v', '-x -v', '-f -v'. 'platform=x86PC -v', 'platform=ACPI -V'. All hang. Someone did mention ages ago in the forum replacing the AppleACPIPlatform.kext, so I got the file that they were suggesting and, in vista, went to the correct directory and dropped it in there, replacing the one that was there and tried again - nothing. I have also tried installing with lots of different combinations of .kext at the installation, but all with the same results every time. I came across a few errors already, the first one was that it was saying something to do with 'unexpected CPU', which I fixed by disabling Speedstep, then it froze saying that it was 'still waiting for root device', but I fixed that by changing the drives to AHCI and plugging the mac-to-be drive into SATA-0. Right, the setup; CPU:Q6600 2.4Ghz SCLAR Ed CPU Cooler:Asus Silent Knight 2 (Copper) Ram:8Gb 800Mhz Geil Black Dragon Mobo:Asus P5Q Pro GPU:ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 (Sapphire) HD:1x Maxtor 1TB 32meg Cache, 1x Seagate Barracuda 500GB 1x Maxtor 80GB (All SATA-2) Sound:Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS I have Vista on the 500GB drive, and the 80GB is spare - so am formatting that one and installing to there - Don't want to mess with partitioning my vista install until I get this working properly. I also have MacDrive installed in Vista, so can access and read / write to the 80gig even in HFS+ etc - I can see the install there in vista, Just can't use it! On a side note, I also have tried iAtkos v5i, but that won't do anything at all - I boot to the DVD, the apple logo flashes up and it reboots into a cycle. I hope thats enough information and that it makes sense. If anyone could help i would really appreciate it! Doug EDIT: I am formatting the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and am making the partition GUID Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170765-kalyway-1052-freezes-at-apple-logo-on-boot-pls-help/ Share on other sites

doug_1986
Hey, i figured it out in the end myself & got Kalyway running fine. After that I have installed the Vanilla retail version using a bootloader, and have had that running for a few months now with no hitches =P Basically it turned out to be a problem with the bios on my motherboard (Asus P5Q-Pro), so needed an updated, modified one. Check here, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136586 That guy has made all the bios' you need for any of the p5q range. (i used http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=40679) Just download it, stick the .ROM on a pendrive, boot to bios and go to 'EZ Flash' over to the far right and let it do it's thing. Reboot, problem solved. Enjoy, and hats off to Juzzi for making the bios.
