this is for: Broadcom 440X ethernet cards, tested with an integrated BCM4401-B0.

 

*fix: reset or clear powerdown control bit

*fix: internal/external? phy

*fix: interrupt, CRC32 generation, propers LED modes +cleanup/update.

 

debug is enabled by default.

 

install procedure:

copy AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext to /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/

 

don't forget to check the permissions, or simply run

$ sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetWorkingFamily.kext

 

..load the kext by hand (kextload) or simply reboot.

 

Please test and comment, if it work/or not.

just to mention that the chip is bugged and cannot dma above 1g, so try limiting your system

to 1go (maxmem=1024 at boot prompt) we need to overide this like freebsd does.

Hi i'm italian so exscuse me for my english.

Is this method work?

I've updated from 10.5.5 to 10.5.7 with combo upgrade kit but the NIC bcm 440x doesn't work (while before the upgrade it works perfectly). Do you think that your solution is valid for me?
