copperboy
I have some experiments on my hackintosh, it works almost 100% like real Mac. So to those who use real Macs, please continue reading. Experiment 1: Tick mirroring in Display preference. Since my main monitor has a resolution of 1680*1050 and second monitor 1366*768, the result is the main monitor turns black with only a mouse cursor and the second monitor works fine. Thoughts: Leopard limits the max resolution to the second monitor. Experiment 2: Power off the second monitor. (but NOT unplug the power supply) Leopard stills thinks there are two monitors and detects the information correctly for both monitors. You can see the attached file: power off.png Thoughts: the main circuit is stills on, power off the second monitor just turns the displaying part down. Experiment 3: cut off power of the second monitor (UNPLUG the power supply) Leopard stills thinks there are two monitors but it detects the second one as Standard VGA monitor. You can see the attached file: cut off power.png Thoughts: Once the VGA/DVI port is connected, it short-cutted some of the pings, thus Leopard can still feel there are some unknown monitors attached. Results: The only way to disable the second monitor is to disconnect it PHYSICALLY from your Mac. power_off.tiff cut_off_power.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/168286-how-to-disable-1-monitor-on-dual-monitor-setups/ Share on other sites
