I have had my system running 10.5 for a long time now. I am currently on 10.5.7. I have always had boot issues. Sometimes the hard drive just doesn't start and I have to force-quit and start the boot process over again. A lot of times I get the machine to boot and end up with a pixelated screen after the graphics wake-cycle. When this happens I have to force-quit and boot in again.

Does anyone have a solution to either of these problems? The weird part of the whole thing is that I can o 4 or 5 boot cycles without having problems and for no reason I get a cycle where it takes 10 - 12 boots to get into OS X. It is very frustrating. I am including a picture of my screwed up boot screen and system stats below. This machine has a 200 gig drive partitioned 1/2 and 1/2 with iATKOS 5i OSX and Windows 7 set up using Easy BCD in Windows.

Forgot to add machine specs:

Acer Aspire 5920

Graphics, Wifi (after switching out WIFI card), Audio all working.

Intel X3100 graphics

Broadcom 4311 WIFI

Intel Onboard Audio

Finally found a solution to this.

This is an issue usually found in Acer computers with X3100 graphics. It has something to do with a BIOS that is not good at OS X. The video is trying to go out the external VGA port instead of the internal graphics processor. The easiest way to deal with this is to not install VGA graphics drivers on install.

The way I solved my problem was through the iATKOS IRC channel. I was lucky enough to get a hold of uphuck and he walked me through all of the causes and ways to solve them. He sent me a driver pack that I will share with everyone. He recommended that you install non-vga graphics on install and add this package after. He also mentioned a 2-wire trick that some used to use to end blue-screen boots in intel 950 chips, but I did not need to do this. I hope this helps others out like it did me.

I do not know what this package will do to other computers. I have no idea if this was something that he had created himself or found. I give all the credit to uphuck for the fix and the driver pack.
