Jens K
Hi guys! I've got a little problem with my iDeneb installation. I've installed the 10.5.7 version and I have problems with my graphics card. It's a Nvidia 8800GTS 512MB: Graphics by NVIDIA: Chipset Model: Graphics by NVIDIA Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0600 Revision ID: 0x00a2 ROM Revision: NVinject 0.2.1 Displays: Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected SyncMaster: Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-Bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported You can see Quartz Extreme is supported and Hardware Acceleration is on. The problem is playing a game. I tried the following games: - World Of Goo - Call of Duty 1 - Call of Duty 4 - Red Alert 3 If I start the game I get audio only, the screen stays black. If I try to go back to the desktop (force quit keyboard shortcut) I get a blue screen and that's it. The only solution is to reboot. Can someone help me with this problem? I'm really a noob with this kind of stuff, and some help is really appreciated. Thanks! TinFoil
Sounds like to me its reporting quartz extreme and hard acceleration, yet its not true. Go to your desktop and screen saver preference pane. If it tries to render a screen saver and it un expectedly quits, u know your card is not fully utilized. I don't think NVinject and 10.5.7 get along right right now. Do NOT load with just a plist mention or try apple's extensions alone, the screen turns to a mess. Read below in this thread and u will see I am having problems with my 8600 gts and 10.5.7. TinFoil
Well you are in a better spot than me. Yet it sounds some calls for the graphics card are being lost. I'm sure you were ok in 10.5.6 right? I made a forum post to NVinject's site. I found these on the chinese section of the forum: http://redirectingat.com/?id=292X457&u...rivers.zip.html In the contents list is 8xxx series drivers.. Im a bit cautious to try them, not backed up. If u can get them to work let me know if u try. I've had the same problems with my video card with 10.5.6. I think 10.5.5 was great in playing games, but I'm not sure.. I'm a bit caution too. The file name is NVIDIA_9000_Series_Drivers.zip, so I'm not sure if these will work. Beerkex'd
Those drivers are probably from Aqua Mac's thread here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=132089 And they are probably older than the ones you're using now. But hey, try them anyway and see if it helps. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/167154-graphics-card-problems/#findComment-1161150 Share on other sites
