setite
I can't figure out wth is causing this panic. I set the optimal BIOS settings as per the pdf in the nforce thread, I am using a USB soundcard and ethernet card. I am having consistent though seemingly random kernel panics. I am trying to install world of warcraft right now, so I don't know if perhaps it is an issue with teh drive. I have an asus p5n-e sli mobo, 4g of ram, seagate sata hdd, pata dvd, 8800gt, q6600 cpu and thats all i can think that you need to know for hardware. I installed iDeneb 1.4 with the voodoo kernel, seatbelt fix, nvinject 512mb, medevil nforceata driver(not the test one)... I welcome anyone who can give me a solution or even has an idea. Before anyone asks, I have searched and am still searching. But since I have been working on this particular issue for 3 hours, and the whole install for a day and a half, I think it's fair that I now submit to the community. If my Google-Fu has failed me and I somehow didn't see an answer staring me in the face, I APOLOGIZE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/167091-asus-p5n-e-sli-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites

setite
I have the same problem!!My PC: C2Q 6600 3GB RAM 200GB SATA HDD Powercolour 4870 1GB installed iDeneb 1.4 with various kernels and chipsets, the problem stayed the same I read somewhere tough that having 4GB might cause panics, dont really remember where... Anyway: help would be awesome! What bootloader do you have. I assume you have the Non-EFI Darwin bootloader as I saw no options. I wonder if perhaps that is it. I just ran all the maintenance scripts on OSX86 Tools so I'm awaiting another crash. I read on a tutorial for a previous version of os x for the p5n-e sli that darwin is "less stable" with dual cores, so perhaps that is the problem. I'm tempted to let OSx86 install a different bootloader. The BIOS version is 1101 or 1301. Your problem may be BIOS settings. setite
It very well could be a problem with my bios settings. I went to the nforce thread and set the bios settings as best I could according to the PDF. I suppose when I get BMW I could try turning on HPET. Other than that I dunno what it could be. I also realized the might be the went sexton for this post becase technically I already have the OS installed since I can boot into it. If a mod looks at this, please move it to the post installation section if you deem it proper. Since you have 4GB RAM installed and a PATA DVDRW, you should use slashack's AppleNForceATA.kext from AppleNForceATA.kext v0.1 but also recheck your BIOS settings.... Installed soem nforce package by Mystic or Msomething... and now I get a black screen and cursor I think I already have that kext. For chipset on the iDeneb 1.4 installer I chose medevils "AppleNforceATA something test". I have tried test and the older one. For chipset on the iDeneb 1.4 installer I chose medevils "AppleNforceATA something test". I have tried test and the older one. There are three main AppleNForceATA.kexts...... 1. MeDevil's AppleNForceATA.kext This is the original AppleNForceATA.kext but it does not enable 64 bit RAM addressing, requiring one to use maxmem=3072 under Kernel Flags in com.apple.Boot.plist....and SATA DVDRWs may have problems with it.... 2. MeDevil's AppleNForceATA_Test.kext This kext enables SATA DVDRW operation......but it does not enable 64 bit RAM addressing, requiring one to use maxmem=3072 under Kernel Flags in com.apple.Boot.plist.... 3. slashack's AppleNForceATA kext This kext enables 64 bit RAM addressing and hence >3GB RAM operation but some SATA DVDRWs may have issues with it...... Can you remember the options you chose in the Mysticus C* nForce Drivers Installer package.....? setite
I don't recall what I used with Mysticus, but I fragged that install and installed iDeneb fresh. I used your kext and I think you fixed the problem. I am halfway through a wow install and I havent had a single panic yet. Thank you thank you thank you ::knocks on wood:: Only issue now is that I can't get 1080p from this OS. i just enabled quartz and I will reboot once WoW is installed.. though i dont know if Quartz affects it.
