Freeze after vanilla upgrade from 10.5.4 to 10.5.7

Startup freezes with:

 

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitforservice(resourceMatching)AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement timed out.

 

This is following upgrade to 10.5.7 from 10.5.4.

 

I have installed on to P5Q Pro with modified 2102 Bios. As per guide:

Hunting around for suggestions however many posts elude to the upgrade jsut working when using the above hardware.

 

Have tried

 

-removing new AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext

-replacing with old 10.5.4 AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext

 

Using chameleon boot loader "Chameleon_DFE_for_Hard_Disk"

 

Been swearing for days giving up soon --- please help feeling down....
