klauskens
Hello, I recently installed the BIKE TOWN version of OSx86 on my Samsung NC10 netbook (10.5 I think). No problems there, the system works quite well. I'm connected to a router via Ethernet LAN which works quite well until the LAN connection (or maybe it is something else, I wouldn't really know) sort of crashes when I don't use the computer for a few minutes (doesn't happen every time but too often). The system itself tells me it's still connected but I'm no longer able to reach any of the other computers here via ping etc. The internet is dead as well. The only way to make it work again appears to be to restart the whole thing (which can be annoying, depending on what you're doing - maybe there'll be a process running in the background so you don't want to restart? You never know...). Sometimes then the system sort of freezes when I'm shutting it down. The only thing I see is the desktop with the cursor and then that's it so I have to use the power button. Also irritating: - When I try to use the power management menu, it's totally empty. No menus, nothing to click on. - I think there's supposed to be some kind of firewall at the Sharing menu (that's what Google tells me) but there is nothing like that. - I'm trying to get the VLC media player to work (not for any file type in particular) but no matter what version I'm installing (even tried the nightly builds) - only audio seems to work, as for video I only get a black window (that fits with the resolution of the file itself though). VLC would be important for me because you can easily crop your video which can be crucial if you wanna watch a 4:3 film at a 1024x600 resolution. I also tried the djoPlayer but it's terribly slow and laggy. DivX itself doesn't even let me open any videos without crashing. Only Quicktime plays the video of my AVIs (and I really can't stand this program) but strangely enough, sometimes no sound. Would be amazing if any of you could help me out here. It's a great board and I already found some solutions for problems here but with those I didn't have any luck yet. I hope I'm in the right section?
