dimension 9200 shutdown and video problem

I have just installed xxx ideben seems to have loaded ok and up and running. But when I tried using included ati x1600 pcie driver which is the type of card I have and would not boot after install just a light blue screen can't find any kexts to load to fix that. Also when I try to shutdown just freezes on the shutdown screen and never turns off fully. Any help would be greatly appreciated in fixing these problems.
