Some questions with install

Ok so here is the deal. Im running a gateway fx 7801 laptop.

 

the cpu is a compatible to run ideneb 10.5.5 ( before anyone asks)

 

i have windows vista x64 installed on a RAID 0 configuration. I then created another partition of 106 gigs. But when i trying to install osx however there is no clear indication of that separate existing partition except for a disk0(something)1. but the size of that is the size of the whole drive itself not 106 gigs.

 

what im i doing wrong.

 

also is it not possible to boot this from an external drive?

 

any form of help is greatly apperciated. Thank you for your time.

BUMP!

 

Have a 7811FX (almost identical), same issue, I don't want to sacrifice RAID performance for OS X.

It sees the two drives, but no partitions. Doesn't matter if bios is set to RAID or AHCI. I've set the second partition to active as well.

 

My guess is that there is no included RAID driver.

 

I do see in the disk utility (within the iAKTOS installer) the option of doing a software raid. May try to create two partitions with the installer (after setting bios to ahci), install os x, REinstall windows, and then software raid windows as well. Not sure if it's worth the hassle for an unsure outcome, especially if there's a better solution out there.

 

Also, I haven't been able to boot into the installer without putting it in safe mode (-x), always freezes on 'no response from RAID server', no matter what I play with. This might have something to do with it too (not loading a neccesarry driver)??

Oh, and FYI - I know there are other threads dealing with the FX laptops, but none address this specific (RAID related) issue, here or anywhere. Help greatly appreciated!
