I'm new to mac. just got 10.5.6 everything works great except the system keeps locking up. it seems to happen mostly when extracting files burning disks or installing apps. you cant click on anything but the mouse still moves. no keyboard shortcuts work. i have to press the reset button to reboot . i have a Asus p5wdg2-ws board. an intel pentium d 805 cpu running at 3.33ghz with 800mhz fsb, 4gigs of 800mhz ddr2. and a connect3d ati x1600-pro pci-e video card.

I am running voodoo 9.5.0 kernel. I tried to check my error logs but i don't see anything with the time it happened listed beside it.

I ran into the seatbelt issue before and am sure ive got that resolved so i dont think it is the cause.

I just thought of something it could be but im not sure if it would affect this. I am running this on an IDE hard drive hooked to the same ide chain as my dvd burner. would that be and issue? I have a sata drive getting rma'ed and will use it when it comes back. in the mean time if anyone else has any suggestions please let me know.
