I need help to which version will accept my computer, and if possible Leopard preferred, please. Here are my computer specifications: Processor: intel pentium 4 (2.4GHz) Motherboard: Asrock; P4VM8 (chipset VIA PM880) (southbridge VIA VT8237) BIOS: american megatrends inc. version P1.00 Graphic interface: AGP version 3.0 (transfer rate 8x : max 8x) (side band: enabled) AGP card: ATI 9600 series (not sure if it's pro, etc. it's 256 MB) Memory: DDR 1536 Mbytes (1 GB & 512 MB) Network adapters: VIA compatable fast ethernet adapter Sound Card: C-Media AC97 Audio Device DVD: GN22P20 (just another samsung dvd player, not sure if that was the model number) If one of you can take your time to see if our computer is compatable with a mac operating system, I would be very thankful. so ty for reading and ty in advance... Synaesthesia Posted May 3, 2009 Share Posted May 3, 2009 I would recommend a 10.4.11 distribution (Tiger). You need one with SSE2 support. The reason why, is because your Graphics (ATI 9600 Pro) only has a driver for Tiger, it isn't fully supported in Leopard..
