stabgotham
Hello, I've been trying to solve this one for a while. Whenever I on my printer, it has an impact on my keyboard and mouse. All 3 components are USB. The mouse and keyboard work just fine until I turn on my printer. As soon as I do, the keyboard will stall intermittently and lock keys while I'm typing (for example, while typing "Hello" at the top of this thread, the "l" key locked making it type Helllllllll). Additionally, my mouse will freeze and become nearly unusable until I reboot and shut off my prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrinter (<--see!) I'm using iPC 10.5.6. Not sure whaaaaaaaat to do. stabgotham
Bump with more info: MSI K9A2 Platinum AMD 5000+ BE 4GB (2x2GB) OCZ DDR2 800 250GB WD Caviar HDD VisionTek ATi 4850 Onboard Sound ALC888 Printer: Canon MP510 Mouse: Logitech MX518 Keyboard: Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 The keyboard and mouse are plugged into the computer using a D-Link USB Hub (DUB-H7). Once the printer is turned on, the keyboard and mouse appear to get progressively worse, meaning, the longer I keep it on, the worse it gets...it starts slow, then ramps up. Beerkex'd
Don't use the hub with the mouse and keyboard. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/164765-printer-kills-mousekeyboard/#findComment-1147804 Share on other sites
stabgotham
I appreciate the help. The theory behind is sound. The problem is the setup of my desk requires me to have the USB hub. My mouse/keyboard cords aren't long enough to reach the PC. I have, however, solved the issue, at least it appears. The printer is USB as well, so I just decided to plug that into the USB hub as well. Now when I turn on the printer, the mouse and keyboard play nice. Go figure. Thanks for all the help that everyone gave. You all provided terrific suggestions to help a brotha out. Beerkex'd
lol Very strange and illogical. You could also consider using USB extension cables with your mouse and keyboard. Or try with a powered hub, preferably one that is advertised as compatible with OS X.
