Harkoni
Hi everyone I'm completely new to the forum scene but I 'd like to share my experiences with the succesful installation of the iDeneb 1.3 (leopard 10.5.5) on my PC. PC specifications are: Intel DP35DP Point of View nVidia 8800GTS 320MB 4GB DDR2 667MHz Kingston intel Q6600 2.4GHz Quad core Samsung 1TB SATA 2 external WD Elements USB hard discs of 640GB and 1000GB TSST Corp SH-S223F SATA DVD-RW Linksys WMP300Nv2 HP laserjet 6P printer After a lot of errors , reinstalls and searching on this forum and the osx86wikiproject I have my system working. Only problems are: - restart function doesn 't work EDIT: after installation of Voodoo kernel release 1.0 rev.A it works great, including sleep. - no audio IN Time machine works for file restore but not for system restore. After a system restore it gives a boot chain error and won't boot anymore. A known problem. So don't rely on time machine for a system restore. EDIT: I got the chain booting error resolved when restoring from Time Machine. See my guide about solutions for dual boot problems Vista - Mac OS X recent version, with also the solution for the Time Machine restore. So you do can rely on Time Machine for both file and system backup. I stopped using Acronis for image backup. I use Acronis True Image Home 2009 to backup in Windows my entire OS X HFS+ partition and it works great. My OS X partition takes 450GB and the backup of it 300GB so you need some extra space but it's worth, better than an complete reinstall after a wrong update. Gives your OS X machine a great redundancy. I give this info just to help the persons who want to install OS X Leopard so that they don't have to do the trial-and-error work and forum search work like me as a newbie. I installed iDeneb 1.3. iDeneb 1.4 never worked for me. After installation 1.4 it reboots and gives the error message: 'cannot find boot partition' something like that. Also a know problem for some people. If you search for DP35DP on the OSX86wikiproject then you find good information but there's 1 big mistake wich took me 2 lost days: The sound chipset is NOT STAC9274D but STAC9271D. So when installing iDeneb 1.3 I had to install some extra 'drivers' from the DVD: language pack ICHx fix: necessary!! audio chipset STAC9271D NVinject 0.2.1 320MB ACPI fix or something like that: necessary With these 5 options chosen from install DVD everythings works flawless for me except the problems mentioned above. Also all USB and FW400 ports, both sound OUT ports and sound IN Port in back work. I had an IDE NEC DVD writer but was never recognized in OS X. I 've read there are known problems with recognizing IDE DVD writers but couldn't find a fix. Now on this forum there's a fix for that I think. Bought a 25€ SATA DVD writer and works perfectly, for example with Roxio toast 10. If you want sound input there's a Kext available: here it is: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi.../t130380-0.html Watch out; you need to download the 9271D attachment file and not te 9274D attachment file!!! (I really suffered as newbie to install a Kext even with installation guides). I don't use this Kext now because i have a microphone in my logitech webcam Quickcam Pro 9000 which works perfectly too by the way with skype for example. EDIT: for KEXT installation use OSX86 tools, free program and very easy to use: newbie proof with possibility to backup kernel and kexts! I had a USB wireless N network card from netgear but never worked, which is confirmed on forums. So I bought for 50€ a Linksys wireless N PCI card as mentioned working flawless on the OSX86wikiproject. And indeed it is simply recognized as an Airport Extreme and is very stable and gets a real maximum speed of 4.5 MB/s. So with an extra investment of 75€ I have my perfect working hackintosh which is my main OS now. I tested the nvidia drivers with Call of Duty 4 for Mac with all settings on normal / high, 4X anisotropic, 1680*1050 resolution etc. and gives very good smooth gaming with Vanilla kernel. EDIT: as I told before, I use the voodoo kernel now which I cam recommend very much! (Thx Voodoo Labs team!) But starting the game with the cracked Liveroil single user patch doesn't work anymore. Starting a server with Multiplayer game for instance is still perfect! So the problem doesn't seem to be the voodoo kernel neither Call of Duty 4 but the NoCD Liveroil crack... Didn't succeed to run an OS with parallels 4 because there was an error saying: no virtual processing supported, somthing like that. Installed VMWare fusion 2 and works great with Windows XP SP3. EDIT: still have no need of paralles 4 because VMWare fusion is great but I think that the problem could be fixed with the installation of the voodoo kernel. Haven't tested yet but almost all the little problems which were left dissapeared when voodoo kernel (9.5.0) was installed, so I suppose this one too? Also sharing files with network hard disc and with Windows workgroup of my gf's Sony Vaio isn't a problem at all. To write to my NTFS partitioned external hard drives I use Paragon NTFS for mac. Hoped this could help someone when stuck in installation process or to convince somone that iDeneb 1.3 on Intel DP35DP ain't a problem at all. Gtz UPDATE: tried to install the Ideneb upgrade Kit 10.5.7 but no luck. Gives panics at startup, especially with USB and Firewire ports. Tried different fixes included in the iDeneb upgrade kit but didn't work. I am not telling that iDeneb upgrade kit is {censored}, certainly not. My knowledge is just too limited to know which Kexts I have to repair or fix after the installation and before the restart. If anyone would have succeeded the upgrade or another upgrade with another method with this mainboard (Intel DP35DP) I 'd like to hear how you did it UPDATE 2: I installed the new chameleon bootloader 2.0 and it works and looks great! Thx chamelon team! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/163455-experiences-with-succesful-installation-ideneb-13-on-intel-dp35dp/ Share on other sites
